Re: Fentanyl patch - which to date provides satisfactory pain 'adjustment' for me
I too am super sensitive to bandaids, etc as well as the adhesive on the patches
But do well if I always prepare the site with common steroid nasal spray - allow to dry then use the adhesive covering recommended in the drug insert info when needed.. (much cheaper online than at drugstore).
Like me you may need to try them without the spray first in order to prove ie show, the dr how badly your skin reacts to the adhesive.
Also I have to use the hmm think it is Watkins brand.. originally scrip was filled with a diff brand that itched awfully so I read online & asked dr to specify Watkins.
The patches have provided steady pain relief w/out side effects. Dosage has been upped a couple of times as well as replacement time shortened to 48 hr.. I would like to up the dosage now but I have been holding off & will for as long as I can.
locations vary from torso.. both below & above waist- to occasionally on upper forearm but even with 'tape' they do not stay well on arm

From what my doctor has told me, the patches work better the closer it is placed to your heart. So I put my patches on my upper chest area, usually swapping from my left side of my chest to my right side from each patch swap. I used to have them on my arms and when I switched to my chest, I found better pain relief and it works faster. Just a thought.

i voted hydromorphone but after thinking about it i believe if the dose is right morphine sulfate seems to engage all parts of central nervous system's opioid receptor system and as doses rise i think the ratio to which most of the opioids in question a more potent by mg than morphine. ex:hydrocodone 30mg=30mg morphine or 30mg oxycodone =60morphine, when you make the jump to 600mg oxycodone it takes less than 2:1 to equate analgesia. 600mg may be 1000morphine
care???

Opana breaks down to oxymorphone. Opana has a 1-2 ratio to oxycontin. I take 40mg 2x a day. That is equal to 160 mg of oxycontin. Both will break down to oxymorphone in a blood or urine test. Because they are from the same "root family " there effectiveness is about same. (accounting for the double strength) Not sure if this adds to the posting ahead of it or not.
