I must say I am shocked that so many others have been thrown away because we have not been believed. If your own mother does not believe you, how do we expect doctors to?

I also want to thank all that told them same story as mine (concerning moms, or other relatives) not believing them, this really helps, again, I thought I was alone and look, I am never alone with the HW forum.

I am in Maryland, so I am for anything along the east coast, but I wont go south, I would love to see it come together, but it would be difficult to do, not impossible, but difficult. So lets BBQ on, maybe we could split it into regions, I dont know the answer but I am willing to try.

Currently MA but soon to be NH.

If my back and hips can handle the drive and the day, I'm up for New England, but won't go south. And I have so much metal in me I'd never make it through a metal detector at the airport even if I could fly.

I have a 4 runner that I can lay the seats down in so I can stretch out as needed. I am up for east coast so I can see the ocean again. I miss it (grew up in Oregon seeing the beach every month) but I am more centrally located to. It's a 14 hour drive to the Carolinas beach so not to bad as long as I scrimp up on my meds so when I do go I am pain free for as long as possible. My pups, daughter and hubby would be coming too. (Don't worry the dogs and hubby are well trained)
Who else wants to come we can start complying a list and furthest distances people would be willing to fly/drive then find an area that suits us all.

Thats great, I am definetly up for New England, always wanted to see the watch the whales anyway, I would probably go by train, on the day after I get my meds reupped. Lets do this, pick a place Snookie.

I will be there, a place, time and date is all I need. And money of course, i only get paid once a month, on the 4th Wed. of each month, luckly most times my meds are given at or close to the same time. I only go there once a month also,

My life revolves around once a month. Lets really try, we can wheelchair, cane, and anything else we need.

A few options, but one very good one at least here in MA is Cape Cod. Especially if we do it in September, after the "tourist" season ends. We can also shop and get super good bargains, including lodging, food, goodies, since Commercial Street in P-Town is one street that has everything.

P-Town is a haul, but right over the bridge, Hyannis is nice. We also have Martha's Vineyard. Gloucester is nice.

Being a water baby you'll find I'm game for any place close to the ocean!!

NH has some nice coastal villages as well, I was just thinking it would be easier to get to Cape Cod, and a shorter traveling distance.

I'd like to avoid Boston, although it offers such beauty....because so many of us just need and want a place to rest (not rush along in foot traffic and sight see), relax, have a BBQ, pot luck, goodies, and lots and lots of wonderful chatting!

Thoughts?

Too many people on here in pain that can't drive for hours or even get on a plane. For most traveling is huge deal which is why a get together would never happen. Don't want to rain on anyone's parade but just telling the truth.

I completely disagree. What I think is perhaps more realistic is that the meetings might be smaller in number, just a few people, but it will be those of us who live within a "reasonable range" to travel and meet.

I get it because I cannot fly, cannot ride trains, and driving is a mixed bag, so it depends really on how far and what the road surfaces are like. But if it means a little travel on my part to get meet even a few of our regular CP'ers, I am totally and completely game. Even if it's to meet one or two or five people,....it's about not feeling or being alone, it's about cherishing seeing the faces of the real people we've been chatting with, it's about how good it can make those of us feel who DO find a way to hook up, to meet the people who write to us that "we're not alone."

I will not take my name off the list. I am absolutely willing to do this. And if there's something I can do to facilitate this, I will do so.

Now give me enough notice and I just might try to fly out to meet you all. I'm in Scotland but would love to see New England, what an opportunity that would be!!

I've a load of hardware in me too but oddly enough on a recent holiday I didn't set off any alarms. Was waiting for it but it didn't happen!!

Yes there are many who might not be able to make it right now, but things change and sometimes it's good to have something to aim for. I know the PC forum has regular get togethers that are a huge success.

Sookie, I agree with you, also i have AARP, which has been very helpful in getting hotel rooms. Look some may come and some may not, but I am game, like I said tell me where and when, I would love to meet anyone who shows up.

I think if we started to collect a list of names, and what (general) areas they were able to travel to, we may be able to even set up several potential meetings. They don't have to be all of us, and they don't have to be all at the same time,...but for example, some may only be able to do New England, some maybe anything west coast is okay, others just in Florida,...and let's not forget our global friends in other countries.

I know we can't all meet together at the same place at the same time, but I think it would not only be helpful but healthy and fun for those of us who could meet up to do so, provided we know our travel limits and don't extend ourselves and end up regretting it by being so sore!

So my name is on the list, and I'm up for Cape Cod.

We can start with locations people like or want or can do, and work around some dates after that and get those lined up too. Thoughts?

Now Sookie, why not combine he two. Meet your friend in Edinburgh and meet me too!! Now there's something to aim for! I used to live about twenty miles from the centre of Edinburgh but now live 120 miles north. Nice area here, we're in what is called castle country!

Depending on hubby's work schedule I'd be willing to meet up with guys. I'm about 125 miles north of Boston, the normal person takes about 2 1/2 hours, it takes me just over 3. I have to make a few stops or my back screams at me. Only nice part is I live right off from 95 so it's a straight shot.

Cape Cod sounds good to me too. lol, I think I can go out and around Boston to get there. I hate driving downtown Boston and the Tobin bridge. Yuck!! I'd rather dig my eyes out with a spoon than drive in Boston. lol

Sookie are you down in coastal NH? My old PM doc is in Portsmouth, I used to have to drive down there all the time.

I currently live in MA (coastal) a stone's throw from some of the beaches and depending on traffic, getting across the canal to the Cape & Islands can be a jiffy or a parking lot. But I'm that vicinity. When we make our move to NH, it will be outside Epping, and if you are familiar with any doctors of any sort, (as I need all new ones, orthos, PCP, PM, GYN, Dentist, Neuros, and so forth and so on).....

Does that give you a sense of where I'm located?

And God help me I would do anything to avoid driving through Boston. It's a nightmare, and, it's also why we're moving. Hubby's commute is 2-3 hours each way as he works north-east of Boston....he's at the end of his rope, and our new move will cut his commute down drastically!! I don't know how he stays sane! I think it helps he drives a car he adores.

Anyhoo, I'm still learning about the area we're moving to and would so appreciative of any input, thoughts, ideas, recommendations,....anything really,....I don't even have a place to start my searches!!

EDIT:  95/128....teeth grinding....that used to be MY drive to work off 3 South when we USED to live in NH!  93 is a possible choice.  But yes, yes, avoiding driving right "through" Boston is possible!

Well I know there are about 6 of us down the Florida coast as well as David and a few others in the Carolina's and traveling up that coast into New England just wont be possible for me.

May be we will have to go for a North and South meet? Making it possible for no one to have to go so far to be a part?

Exactly. With so many CP'ers in southern Florida, arranging a meet & greet for those Floridians makes a whole lot more sense. Heck, we can have more than one BBQ CP-party,....we can do it by region.

We cannot all attend each one obviously, but it would be a start, and a helpful joy, for the few of us who live or can get to whatever areas we can, that can be our first group meeting. Knowing CP, I think we all already accept we couldn't possibly all meet at one place....(and live to tell the tale!)

Maybe try to set up a place in the south Florida region that the ones you know of would be able to get to. It's a place to start.

I think this can bolster our feelings of independence and camaraderie. Plus, it'll be darn cool.

another couple of months it will be summer here is Australia nice weather to help ya aches and pains . some great beaches close by as well as some nice sharks lol and I have a ripper of a bbq set up :-)

Another place on my "Bucket List." The only thing that wigs me out are the miles and miles of inland with all those poisonous scary critters! But otherwise,.....yay!

Sorry, I wont go south, in particular Florida, as Florida just found the cold blooded murderer of Trayvon Martin not quility.

I have black grown children and black grandchildren, one is a 7 year old boy, not a chance.

I think most people are here to discuss CP and not politics, so I'm going to re-route this thread.

For those who live "in the south" and whatever "the south" may mean to you,....a meeting of fellow CP'ers in an agreeable area is what we've been talking about wanting to organize.

For example, if I could fly, I'd love to head out to Redmond because I used to live there. I'd love to head out to Maui because I lived there, too. I'm fond of New Orleans, and I'm fond of Atlanta, and that doesn't include my Bucket List of Scotland and Australia and England and Germany and Italy and Russia.

The point is, wherever "we" are, individually, if we can meet up with a few others, even if we all are willing to meet them half way to help reduce the stress of travel, we could all get to know each other a lot better.

I, for one, would absolutely love to follow through on a Meet & Greet and officially, my name is on the list. I WILL attend. Not a "maybe" but a "for sure."

Let's keep plugging away at this,

So how's about those of us who are genuinely interesting in meeting other CP'ers, or at least curious enough to consider it, why don't we at least post an area, even if it's a state, or a region, that we live in or are willing or able to travel to. So for me, in New England, obviously I'm not a candidate to drive to VA or FLA. But if we can start sort of figuring out where those of us who are interested are ABLE to hook up, we can narrow it down. Again, it may be twelve places across the country, and only 4-6 people per place,....that's fine, too. Nothing saying we can't, individually, head up our own little meeting areas for people closest to us, at a time that works for each individual group.

I am down for all the surrounding states of Kentucky. I don't mind driving to Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee ect. I would love to make a couple friends here who know what it's like.
