New Orleans would be AWESOME...as I'm only a 3 hour drive from it.

Gulf Shores would be even better...hehe.

Lynn there are a few folks in Canada so if coming downs not an option, you all can plan your own.

Maybe if we get these set up on a certain date like Cp weekend we will be able to Skype the other meets.

A few in Ky and WB will be headed that way soon, VA, OH, TN.

David can go up or down even sideways in a couple of hours. I know for us in the South waiting until winter months or at least fall is going to make travel easier and the tourists have gone home, prices of room's, planes, everything is cheaper. Nothing like winter here in FL. Last Christmas it was 78 Christmas day 61 that night, gorgeous. Lol I grew to hate those snowy cold winters in Ky. No more bone chilling cold for me!

If you live in the Southern regions Ky down and across Allegiant air flyswatter one way 3 days a month for under $60 and ever other weekday pretty much under $ 90.

They do only fly certain airports but its worth the drive to the bigger airport for the savings. I know my daughter flew round-trip to Texas and it cost almost $700. There's not much chance most of us have that.

David actually how far from Hilton Head are?

I guess we really will have to watch the dates too. Winter comes early up north and flights are so much cheaper the longer notice you have plus get ridiculous around holiday's and have black out dates as well.

Its possible some of us here in FL could actually car pool or travel together since I know a few of us live within 75 miles from one another.

I also know there are going to be some that traveling very far at all will be impossible for obvious reasons and maybe we can keep that in mind as we look at possible meeting places.

One of my frequently visited "vaca-spots" was OOB in ME! I've also spent some time on Monhegan Island, and loved it to bits! Even the ferry ride! Especially the seals and the fairy houses. That was ages ago.

I understand about "off season" and the more info we communicate the better we can collectively learn about what areas are most accessible and to whom, and what times of year would make smoother traffic. (Living on the Cape, our lives change drastically when the tourists bombard our homes and clog our roads and parking every summer, so whatever areas we hook up in, let's trust our local CP'ers about better travel dates).

Maybe we could create a formal poll so that we'd have an outline of who can go where, and what months are best, and then from general areas (since some of us can go between 3-4 states), we can narrow it down to a location, and figure out the accommodations.

Just a thought, but seeing this in a list form, might be helpful in guiding us.

As we narrow it down, the CP'ers closest to each agreed upon meeting area may have the most familiarity of best possible places. So if a group is meeting at Cape Cod, a group in Florida, a group in NOLA, a group in Kentucky,....(I'm just naming a random list, but as we go on here, we'll get a better idea of who and how many, our travel ranges, estimated best month/s to try a trip, and then work on the smaller details).

I'm willing to travel even if it's to meet one or two people. It's still worth my wile and of interest to me.

We'd need CP'ers from each area of hopeful congregation to take a lead in coordinating options. I can offer information about the Cape Cod region, but obviously don't know a thing about Florida, the Carolinas, Kentucky, etc. If we work together, we could get our places, and I never even gave skyping a thought, but that'd be pretty nifty too, if the times coincide.

I'm looking forward to this!

I'll take on the Cape Cod (New England) leg of this if people want to "add their name to my list" so I have an idea of who can make it to this area, and together we can figure out times and such.

Anyone else willing to head up the other legs of maybe NOLA or FLA or TN or MD or wherever we can do it? If we can have some of us sort of spearhead the regions we can pull it off.

I'm not going anywhere, and I am willing, and game, and eager, and able.

Are we dying down? Who is willing to take what general areas? I'll take New England, and if anyone wants to hook up at Cape Cod, I'll do the research for a place we can meet based on how many of us get together. I just need to get an idea of who, how many, and we can then find a reasonable time frame to make plans.

I don't wanna give up fellow CP'ers. I do think we need some people willing to step up and take different "legs" of meeting places,....I mean, if we're serious about wanting to meet.

Nothing would make me happier. I'm home alone all day as it is, I know that doesn't help. But meeting face to face people who "get it" would be a welcome change.

I think there are some wonderful ideas starting here. I think what they do on the other forums.... is get a general consensus on the forum and then work out the bigger details via e-mail and so forth. Obviously, there are certain details you don't want to put out on an open forum.

I live in California and have made a hand full of wonderful friends on HW that I'm still trying to meet one day! I'm one of the "odd balls" on the West Coast, lol....

I do know that various people on our board have connected over the years.... but mostly on an individual level.

Anyway.... wishing you all well... but, again, would suggest the further you get into making logistics - do it offline just to protect confidentiality and so forth.

I've met up with members of another forum I was a Mod at (who became one of my closest, closest friends, the paramedic who had MS I mentioned before who lived in NC)....but it was more of a personal one to one thing.

I'm looking forward to face to face with fellow CP'ers. even one!

I have been off for awhile as my docs are playing with my meds. But.................. is this open for any of us? I'm in NC and could go pretty much anywhere from Maine to Florida. I would love to get together! I even offered to cook if necessary:)

Ooooh. Someone who cooks!? Delightful.

I'll admit I'm rather limited in that arena, cut if there's a couple of us, I was kind of thinking pot luck but then thought about, wait, will it last the travel? Depending on where we start? At the Cape there are lots of camping type sites with pits (our grill is propane and at the new house so it's not-a-budging.) But a for-real BBQ would be to die for....I haven't been to one since I was a kid. Lobsters are (usually) plentiful up here, as are clams (I'm not a clammer but lots are). I have a few things I could up pretty well....but I'm not a specialist in hushpuppies. (Ahem, cough, cough, nudge, nudge).

My email's posted, anyone interested in Cape Cod, shoot me off a line, and we can work out the details. I'm still limited in how much driving and sitting I can do I'll also want to be within driving distance safe for my back and hip, and at a place where I can get up, and down, and up, and walk, and up, and down...(I have a feeling we'll all look like restless jack-in-the-boxes since not many of us can sit for long).

And my motorcycle is out of the question until I can work out handling vibrations and the drop foot, of course, is on the left. I'm not kitting out a new bike, so,....I got a ways to go on that. (It does make driving easier than a car, and for me, more comfortable, even the vibes, but that foot of mine would land me in deep doo doo, I know it).

Thoughts? Lists? Names?

As WB said, we can work out the details privately but it'd be neat to be a general consensus.
