chronic lower back pain

So good news. New doctor looked at my mri did a what the heck to my previous doctors and some very colorful euphemisms at their less then stellar diagnostic skills. I have 2 split and bulging discs at L4-L5 and L5-S1. As well as dessication of my L5 and degeneration of the marrow at both locations. She said the doctors who looked at it before must have been blind not to see the damage. So now I am on the fast track to the spine center and to pain management. Listening to that woman blow up on the doctors over the phone was priceless. She called my pharmacy and had pain medicine ordered for me while I wait to see the pain management specialists. I am euphoric in my pain right now because of my new doctor seeing right off the bat what was wrong and then listening to her make sure the other doctors knew that they messed up. I have never had a doctor do that for me. So now to see what the spine doctors say about what can be done to fix me up.

Unfortunately I am going to have to have a spinal fusion. My legs keep going numb and giving out on me. My l5s1 disc is gone completely my L4-L5 is torn, half gone and leaking. I originally told my spinal doctor I would work through it but it's getting worse and worse.

The stretches kill me. I try the pt and it makes it worse for days rather than better. That's part of my modic type 2. none of the traditional methods fix it. Even the fusion according to my dr won't take the pain away it will prevent it from getting worse.

Sucks to be 24 and facing major surgery knowing I will be sol for at least 6 months on self sufficient. (Parent of a toddler so self sufficient to me means caring for her on top of the usual)

I hope you are not in this kind of a boat.
