Feeling frustrated in Florida!

I broke my neck in October 21, 2010 have two rods and a plate in my neck with my cervical fused along with a brain injury , I'm just tired of being in constant pain when a Pharmacy took 60 pain pills from me I even showed them my scar , how do you expain pain you can't.and living in Florida dosnt help from all the pil mills , it just sucks the people that need pain meds have to deal with so much crap.

Im sorry you've had so much happen to you and your in such pain.

Im guessing your probably young as well? Not that you feel less pain just people expect you too!

I live in the Daytona area actually and understand your frustrations over the pharmacys and you know what? They're not done with us yet. Last week another ruling was voted in effecting the labeling and dropping "moderate " pain from scheduled meds. Unfortunately we're going to continue to pay for the lack of action early out on the pill mills and drug abusers. It will get worse no doubt more changes will come.

Its vitally important that we pain patients follow the straight and narrow. We have to stand trustworthy and give them indication of any sorts of being "off ". No early refills, no meds from anywhere else, clean drops, everything your contract asks. That is the only thing that separates us from them JC. Well and this insidious pain!! Lol

Please dont think im indicating you've done anything wrong as I jump the same hoops on the same court.

If I may ask why did the pharmacy keep your meds? Or are you talking about the limit on how many you can fill?

I'm in Florida an it is tough to get medications filled here. The people in the pharmacy judge us. I left a pharmacy because one of the employees and I got into it. They are supposed to fill the meds and leave us alone. I have a new pharmacy that's so awesome. Love the people there.

I was getting 180 ct 15mg. Which is only 90ct 30mg oxycodone and the pharmacy took 60 away from that 180ct , but the pharmacist said I could get 10/325mg perks 80ct , expain that too me that is why so many people got to street drugs because you don't.need a doctor, insurance or a pharmacist.

Well they did he said I can only give you 120ct 15mg oxycodone , but the were filling it for over a year, Its called walgr.. if you live in Florida you would know about that and other things happening their warehouse it dosn't matter that's life i f you have to take oxycodones.

I would never use a Walgreens or a CVS to fill any of my meds unless it was an emergency I had to get the script filled right then and there. I have a CVS on one street and across that street is a Walgreens and I can't stand either one of them. I mentioned earlier I think that the best bet if you can do it, is to use a mom and pop place. That's what I do right here in Miami. There are many of them and most do not stock CII meds unless you ask them to order it for you and if you're nice and they like you, you'll be treated like a king. They want your business so that's the way they keep you coming back. Walgreens and CVS will give you a song and dance like you never heard before. I have a friend that frequents this board and he had a terrible experience with Walgreens but unfortunately, he is a cancer patient and has no choice as the Walgreens is the only pharmacy within 100 miles of where he lives. Thank God it all got taken care of after about 5 months but it was his own personal nightmare. Walgreens, yepper!!! Never would I use them. I'm really sorry that you have to go through this JC, it's bad enough that we have to live like this much less have to be reduced in our medication. It's not right.

The only reason I can think of that a pharmacy would "take pills away" would be if they did not have the complete script in stock. If they had 90 of them, and your script was for 120...then they could give you 90 but you would lose the rest of the script because they cant fill partials on those meds.

The reason why they probably said they could give you more of another dose/form of Oxycodone, is because they had more of that med in stock.

I live in FL, I've been using a Walgreens for years. And I use Oxycontin as my extended release med, and then either OxyIR or Percocet for my break through med.

I've also never had any issues unless there's been shortages and in those cases there just isnt any to be had anywhere.

I know the family owned/mom & pop drug stores are better than the chains when it comes to being treated with respect and dignity. They have to go by the same federal and state laws governing prescriptions and pharmacy as the chain stores do. Maybe their customer relations are better because they don't have the volume of business. Or maybe people that work these stores aren't "fast paced" and they can and want to take the time to listen and hear their customers. Whatever the reasons, I believe they are going to be rewarded for treating people like people with more business as the chain stores get worse at it.

I think it all comes down to the people working at the pharmacy...whether its a CVS, a Walgreens...or a mom and pop. The Walgreens I use is full of wonderful people who have bent over backwards for me.

I think it's important to build a positive relationship with your local pharmacy, especially when you're filling meds there exclusively.

So use whichever pharmacy works best for you.

I moved to Fl. (From the northeast). I've had lupus, RA, sjogrens,etc since 2000. I never even thought that maybe I shldnt move to Fl. Due to med issues. Wrong. I'm shocked at the cruelty dished out by doctors here. I was told "we don't prescribe that stuff" by several pain mgmt. offices. I am in constant, horrific pain 24/7. Do I really have to move to another state? By the way, my Drs up north sent 15 yrs worth of records. They are shocked too.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I feel that the med community here is terrified of the "authorities". Doctors in the entire state recvd personalized letters from the governor telling that that "we will no longer prescribe the following Rxs". The letter then listed the specific pain meds. By the way, the pain mgmt mds are the only ones allowed to prescribe these things. But, they are all paranoid. I'm almost worried abt detailing too much abt myself--although what can I lose? Also, I needed help with sleep while on pain meds. Now, sans pain meds, I have severe pain, super exhaustion and am becoming anxious. I never had that problem before. This is torture.
