I went in for a SCS adjustment last month and my dr was nice enough to give me post dated scripts for this month so I didnt need to drive back to pick them up. I have no clue what I did with them. For the last two days I have torn the place apart looking, no clue where else to look,lol. Will the drs office be able to go online and check thru the prescription monitoring program to see if I filled anything? Not sure how that all works.

I cant believe I cant locate them, I have been with this dr for almost 10 years and never misplaced anything. I did call the office and the person answering the phone was not very positive, she said she would leave a message for the dr. What do you think are my chances of getting them reissued? My LA I am always about two weeks ahead due to hospitalizations but my IR is another story.

Hi wish I could give you positive feedback, but believe me its going to be very difficult to say the least. Sadly the people who abuse the scripts have made it almost impossible for us who have done nothing wrong.

I have a folder that holds all my "Medicine" stuff from receipts for my monthly meds/appts. as well as the minute I come home from my PM appt., I put the post-dated prescription right in there. Just a thought for next time around...

For now, the best part going for you is that you have never had an issue with this Dr. in 10 years, no early refills, no problems with lost/stolen.....they may go ahead and do this for you this one time.

The key is getting to your actual Dr...Do you have a direct line for him or his email?

I'm a bit confused when you say that your are ok with your LA meds but not your IR.....Was this two post-dated prescriptions for both meds and what was the date they were to be filled? Won't you need to get both rewritten?

One time I had half of a prescription stolen by a family member, but filed a police report within an hour of the occurance and the person was arrested, admitted to stealing and selling the meds, I filed charges and everything. All documentation was provided to the dr and attached to my record. That was my only issue over the years.

With my long acting meds I was hospitalized two times over the last 8 months for a week each time, my meds were covered while I was inpatient so I ended up ahead of schedule with those. My scripts continue to get written for the 16th of the month, but I dont "need" to get them filled right away, I have a little cushion. My dr is aware of that. I wouldnt be ok for the entire month, but I am ok if it takes them a few days to decide what they are willing to do.

My IR can be filled on that same date also. Most months I dont use it all in the 30 days but they have encouraged me to fill it anyway even if I am not out, just incase the pharmacy is out of stock (liquid oxy is a special order that only comes from 1 distributor). Once I get to much excess, I tell them to void the script and hold off a month.

I usually keep them right in the zipper pocket of my purse, I figured out the purse I had with me that day but nothing. The SCS rep gave me some adhesive patches, they are still there but nothing else. I am really sick to my stomach over this, I took off work today to look thru everything another time.

Since we use our purses so much almost every day, I would strongly recommend for the future putting them in a folder or in a lock box (where your meds should be) so that way you can just go grab the prescription on the day you are going to fill it.

I'm still a bit confused on what date the actual prescriptions were written (post-dated) for? And I may be thinking of someone else, but are you located in VA? They are supposed to ask for ID when filling prescriptions as well as have the prescription monitoring program so hopefully your Dr. can look up to see if anyone tried to fill these prescriptions anywhere.

Hopefully the stolen meds issue was years ago but that still may be that it was your "one" shot at not securing your meds/prescriptions and not give you the new ones this time around...I'm hoping that this is not the case..

The scripts were written on October 12th with a fill date of 11/16/13. I usually drop them off within a couple days depending on schedules and the hours of the pharmacy, but offically fill a couple days after since one item needs to be ordered (they wont special order without the scripts on hand). Maybe I am not explaining clearly, not sure. I am in PA, I dont know what type of monitoring systems we have if any.

No worries..I think I understand...I was just asking the specific date they were written for so that if you lost them a few days ago, your Dr. will want to check the monitoring system, (I think PA has it as 43 states do now), to see if anyone has tried to fill since the 16th...That way they can verify that you haven't done so...

Before you mentioned the date, I wasn't sure if the fill date was coming up or already passed:)

Do they usually ask you for your ID at your Pharmacy?

Oh, I never leave something like that in a purse because of being in & out of it all the time, real easy for something to fall out.

If things were not so hard today with drs I would say the dr would probably work with you, but I doubt it now. You may have to ration what you have left. Good luck.

I know this may sound silly, but have you checked with the dr/nurse and asked them to check your file and be sure you left with them ? Also did you go any place else after you left the drs office ? Your question regarding the PMP, it depends on what the laws are in your state. In some states it is State Law that the info be entered when it is filled, but in other states these "can" be 7 days or more before it is entered. Put "Prescription Monitoring Program AND your state" in your search bar and you should be able to find the laws.

Chances are they'll rewrite the scripts, because 1. They can call the pharmacy and verify nothing got filled, and 2. Once you fill the new ones, the old ones won't be ABLE to be filled (on the off chance someone took them somehow) because you filled the new ones. Does that make sense?

It's not exactly the same thing, but once I got groceries after I left the drs office, and my BF got a 6 pack of beer, and somehow my scripts ended up on the floor of our truck...underneath the sweating beer. I had no clue, and when I picked up the beer, the scripts were ripped...and soaked. Completely unfillable.

I called my drs office, explained that they got wet and ripped, and they gave me another set, explaining that those script numbers would just be voided and that I could only fill one set anyway because of the system at the pharmacy and insurance.

Years ago I thought I lost mine too, but only in the time between leaving the doctor's office and getting in the car. I usually double check when in the car to make sure all info is right and I have the 2 scripts. I also check before I leave the doctors office but just feel better doing one final check before I drive away.

Anyway, first I looked all through my purse, then the car. Then I retraced me steps and went back up to the office to see if I had left them or dropped them there, nope. Went back down to my car and finally found them in a weird pocket in my purse. Why I put them there I have no idea. So now, I always put them in the same place in my wallet and if they are not ready to be filled, when I get home they go in my safe until it's time to fill them.

I hope you can get replacements.

I know this is hindsight but for future I usually just give my pharmacy ALL of my scripts, even the post dated ones.

That wat I can call ahead of time and they can order more medication if they need.

They have them, and I can't lose them.

They have them and I can't lose them....yes I ment to say this twice.

So, what has your doctor told you? Are they going to help you out?

RA that may work in some states I'm not sure but here in FL you cannot leave a scheduled prescription with them anylonger. Walgreens wont even take it the day before its post dated for.

I agree with Vickie.

In some states, post-dated scripts aren't allowed.  I found out the hard way, as a pharmacist wrote a big "X" across one I gave him.  I wasn't trying to fill it, just dropping it off so it wasn't laying around my house.

Even dropping them off at the pharmacy, if they allow it, can be risky.  I'd be concerned even they could lose it or convey they simply "do not have it."
