I'm working on the 2nd opinion as we speak. You're right I should do so. With the urgency of this and being fast-tracked, my mind has been spinning.
When I knew we were relocating out of state, I immediately asked my PCP as well as all the surgeons and even my PT, if they knew of any Drs in the NH region, and no one had any colleagues or references. That was my very first approach.
Also, the unanimous reply was: Try Dartmouth (teaching hospital). In turn I contacted the three major, well-respected (high rating) hospitals up here, and the names they provide are based on rotation of who has privileges. I started there (along w/ my ins, but as I mentioned, I don't have network restrictions).
Granted, I was given great lists, but Dr. Sorry was the first one among those open to new patients.
I'm thinking of trying this in reverse. I'm going to get hooked up with the PMC up here locally, and see if THEY may have a reference re: PCP.
I'd happily keep my MA PCP, but as she pointed out,....IF something should happen, nice to have someone local. (I had a PCP in ME for almost 10 years when we lived in MA....and it worked out fine).
PS: Everyone, including the doc, kept coming into and out of the office carrying a stethoscope and a tube of KY (like someone may steal it?) It was,...grimy and creepy. Okay, 'nuff said about him.
I was hoping the hospitals could help.
