Hello Frankie, I saw your post on PieNic's thread and I want to ask you to post over here what you wrote. If you will post it here more members will see it and be able to respond.
By chance has your dr rx;d a muscle relaxer to you? If not perhaps when you see him/her next you can discuss with the dr about being put on one. If you don't have an appt scheduled any time soon, you could call & talk to the nurse & ask her to talk to the dr about prescribing one.
I know you are really disheartened about your progress at this point, but once again it is just too soon to know if your surgery is a failure or not. I think you said you had been having a good deal of back pain for a couple of years before the surgery. I would be willing to bet that during that time there was a lot of nerve involvement and when the nerves are an issue like that it takes a long time for those nerves to heal. They have to heal on their own and it happens slowly. Eventually as more time goes by you will start feeling better. Try to be as patient as you can and walk. Walking is vital to your recovery and you can do several short walks a day to build yourself up. Keep yourself up moving as much as possible, limit your sitting to short intervals. Sitting puts a lot of pressure & stress on the back. If you just lay around then your body will become weakened and that is the last thing you need.
What is your dose of Gabapentin? Gabapentin builds up in the body so it will take some time to get to the correct therapeutic dose. If you cannot tell its working now then you may need for it to be increased.
Hang in there & cut yourself some slack, you are just too soon from surgery at this point. Take care....Susie
