Thanks Tina!
I get the nausea/vomiting with all the pain meds I've ever been on, it's just that with the patches, it was a more continuous, vicious problem. (My thought is because the patch was continuous and ever present).
I was hoping that with the lollipops, I could get the pain relief of fentanyl, in a delivery system that isn't 72 hours of continuous medication with no breaks.
I use promethazine, and it works pretty well if I'm able to use it so that it peaks when the nausea from the other meds peaks too. But that was really hard to do with the patch, and I ended up having to take a LOT more promethazine just to try and have it work at the *right* time.
But with the pops, it would be like any other med that lasts 4-6 hours (or however long) at least in regards to the promethazine.
Would it be possible for me to take only a portion of the dose? Like if I find that a whole pop is too much, could I reduce it down to half of one?
I know I would probably have to throw the unused portion out, but is it possible to control how much medication you're absorbing?
I'm definitely opioid tolerant, so that's not an issue. Lol.
Edit: Also, I forgot to ask! Fentanyl Citrate is what my insurance company said they would cover...so what is that? Is it the generic of actiq? fentora? what's the difference between them? is one on a stick and one isnt?
I just want to make sure I know what I'm asking for when I say "Fentanyl Citrate" LOL!
