I think my pain clinic is frauding insurance for $$$$

I've been going to my PC for 5mth now and I've come to conclude they're scamming patients for their insurance $$$$ My Neuro had referred me to the clinic for my neuropathy and I also have deformed feet, absess etc.

My first visit the PM Dr. seen my back, feet etc and called off all sorts of meds that I needed to be on. The first that I remember was morphine but I'm allergic Tried the Fentanyl,Butrans with the Norcos and I couldn't take the sides. Any way The next 3 visits I never got to see him again and the nurses only Rx me 4 Norco 10/325.

I'm leaving a lot out to keep this short but what's happening is they fill my Rx without any changes and schedule me back for the next 3 months so I/ my insurance have to pay the same copay/bill....

I talked to another patient and he knew all about the scam...

Thanks for the reply Rocckyd! I haven't been this lightly medicated in a long time and my conditions are only getting worse. I called my PVP and the nurse knows what's going on with my health and made me an appt. and assured me that they will treat me. My PCP knows that I don't like pain meds but he'll take care of me. I still believe the PC is an insurance mill. That place is huge and I'm just more comfortable with people that know me personally. Thanks for the vent!!!!

Yup that's how my pain office runs. My previous one didn't, they would allow me to just show up at the window and grab my script without seeing the doctor but I had to see him face to face every couple of months. Both are normal if you're schedule 3 or below.

Now I am schedule 2 so I leave work every month for a few hours to get meds. I hate using my PTO for it but we have to do what we have to do, them too. Surely they would prefer to have more patients but since they have to see us per DEA rules, they are limited are forced to see us which limits their time to see patients, thus PAs/nurses see patients. (Hope that made sense, I'm sleepy)

Hey, it's interesting you mention this. I pay cash for my visits (follow up drug tests are giving so they know it's in your system) and the entire doc visit and test is in the 175$ they charge. I'm wondering why they are submitting this to my insurance?! I received a statement in the mail that they are submitting all these to insurance, when they said in the beginning that insurance doesn't cover these expenses!??....

I was fairly sure my old rheumatologist office was pushing appointments.

They were in the process of building a new building.

The doctor would say three months, and the office staff would schedule in two. If I tried to push back the appointment, they would say "Let's just leave it where it is." After five visits in nine months, I found a new rheumie. At the time, only on cymbalta and tramadol. I think my doctor had nothing to do with it, but the office manager or the head doctor (whose name was over the door) may have been scheduling tightly to facilitate insurance money.

Start looking for another pain management clinic if your so very frustrated with this one. Does kind of sound fishy with what you described, my doctor or another doctor in office usually see me for my visit to see if there are changes and to make sure I'm stable on my meds. Sometimes I've had to have my meds increased. Start doing your homework in trying to find another pain management doctor in your area...
