I must admit that although I have problems with people outside my immediate circle, I am amazingly fortunate with family, close friends and my treatment team.
My PM and GP are both men with very obvious and very genuine empathy...and really care about
their patients. My GP gave me his private mobile number for emergencies. My PM especially has cried with me on several occasions and always tries to do something to make me smile...for example, because he sees a lot of paediatric patients he has a sweetie jar on his desk and always tries to give me a jelly sweet. I don't eat them, but said jokingly to him one day that if he got in some nice liquorice instead I'd be more than happy to have some. Next visit, sitting beside the sweetie jar, is a huge jar of liquorice twists
My physio - who is the third member of my core team - makes home visits. She used to work 15 minutes away, then moved to a clinic well over an hours drive away. She lives in the next town, so comes to me to save us the long trip just comes to me. Her daughter also has RA - so she understands CP very well.
