Ahhh, no, why?

Oh my gosh! AHHHH, oh too much pain. owe, this is agonizing. I can't take too many pain medicine because I don't have the money to refill it yet. I was suppose to pick them up on the 28th but I knew I would have a PM appointment soon & it would be after my deductible balance goes back to $0, so it will cost me to go to PM. I have to wait until April 7th, 7 whole days and I only have 3 left of my nerve pain medication and 8 of general pain medicine. I've been averaging out to 2-3 a day of each, which is my alowed amount. (3) I've only been taking 3/4 of the general pain med since those are tabs, the others are capsules. What I've been doing is the 1/4 piece left over gets saved and two other 1/4 pieces go with it to add another pill. I'm also really worried about withdrawl. With my other medical conditions I get symptoms that feel very similar to withdrawls and I'm afraid I'll really be feeling bad. Thank God my husband got a pay raise promotion. All the medical bills, specialists, tests, medications it adds up fast & eats up all our $.

I hate this, it sucks when your hurting really badly but have to stretch your meds out because you can't afford the refill. Technically I can afford the refill but I just want to make sure I'll have the $ for PM & any medications he prescribes. The medication I am on nnow sometimes helps a little but my pain is not being managed very well right now & I feel it's more important to go to the PM apt to talk with him about a better way to manage my horendous pain than to pay for the refill of a medication that hardly works for me.

Back pain sticks, thank you so much for your response, for some reason it helps when someone realizes just how much pain I am in. I am hurting so much right now. I am crying my teeth are chattering (they only do that when I'm in serious pain) my legs shaking, I feel sick, having anxiety. I'm even starting to hyperventalate. I'm considering going to the er but am afraid of getting in trouble for doing that.

Chartreux, you are so nice & thoughful. Your response is warming, if that makes sense. Lol. Yeah I have some prescription discount cards & my insurance already takes a couple hundred $ off & it's still a little pricey. It's a brand name and hasn't been enough years for someone to make a generic out of it. I hope I make it to the 7th too. I hope my first visit with PM goes well, I know a lot of first visits these days is just a consultation & they reschedule you for another apt to get treatment & medications. People said this dr is really careing, most careing one they've ever met so I hope I chose a good dr. I ordered this stuff called Kratom online, it's from thialand. Has pain relieving properties & is suppose to help withdrawl. Hopefully it gets here in time. Thank your for you concerns, your prayers are very appreciated. (((HUGS)))

You need to think twice about taking Kratom. There is no legitimate medical use for kratom in the U.S. If the dr does a tox screen and it shows up, you could end up losing the prescrittion meds you already get and/or may get in the future.

I must have misread. I thought you had a contract. Didn't your new PM make you sign one? That and a urine test are standard for new patients. If you come in with something in your system, other than what you were prescribed previously and maybe even with a previous prescription, they don't have to accept you.

I meant you can't use more than one pharmacy for pain meds. You also can't get pain prescriptions from other doctors once you have a contract. It's in the contract. I'm sure you can switch doctors, but some posters have had problems getting accepted if they were on significant medications.

The concern with Kratom is that it could show up on your test as a controlled substance, and the PM could refuse to treat you. It wouldn't matter that it isn't illegal. It would violate a contract because of showing up as something they test for.

I sympathize with your situation of running out of money for prescriptions. Hopefully your new PM will be able to find affordable medications.

I am so sorry Jenny. I can understand your pain because I do suffer too much pain also :(

Perhaps you should go to emergency room and speak with some doctor.

I wouldn't mention the Kratom nor would I take it, but that's just my opinion. The PM dr hasn't even seen you yet so you aren't officially his patient. Also, if you still have the refill at the pharmacy, if the ER, pain dr or any other dr looks it up in the Prescription Monitoring Program for your state, it will show that you have a refill. And they may think you're trying to get something stronger. I know you said that you couldn't afford it because of the PM appt Monday, but it will cost more to go to the ER than to pick up that rx. . or that's how it will be viewed.

You also need to consider real possibility that the ER may not give you anything for pain. The situation with your heart was different. Your insurance company will know why you went to the ER, I don't think that should be of concern. But what should be of concern is how the PM dr may view it, especially if the ER does give you anything for pain.
