Hi I'm whatx2. I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself and tell you about my situation.

In July 2012 I have gastric bypass surgery. Everything went fine and I ended up losing over 100 pounds. Then in May 2013 I started having abdominal pain. My Bariatric surgeon decided to do an exploratory lap. He didn't find anything wrong.

I had already been referred to a gastroenterologist by my primary doctor due to my liver enzymes being elevated. The gastro did a bunch of tests and couldn't find anything.

Finally mid June 2013 my gastro sent me to another gastro to have my sphincter of oddi muscle cut through ERCP. My regular gastro did not feel comfortable doing it due to the gastric bypass.

So I met with a pa at the new gastro's office. I was told that I also had to see a surgeon. They would have to insert a feeding tube into my stomach remanant in order to do the ERCP. So I met with the surgeon. She told me if I had another bad attack of pain to go the er.

A few days later I ended up in the er. They did an ultrasound and saw that my biliary duct was dilated. So she had me admitted and the next day they did and MRCP, which showed the same. Which meant I had a stricture in my common bile duct.

A few days later I was in surgery. After everything was done I was fine for a few weeks. I was pain free. Minus surgery pain of course. But then the pain started coming back. I ended in and out of the hospital until the end of September 2013. They did pretty much every test they could and could not find the cause of the pain. They also repeated the ERCP.

My Bariatric surgeon put me on supplemental feedings through the tube. He thought it might have been a bent artery due to weight loss. At this point i weighed 93 pounds. I did put on some weight. I now weight about 110, but it didn't help. My gastro even had me see a vascular surgeon who did a catscan angiogram. That came out completely fine.

Finally after more trips to the er, I finally mentioned maybe it could have something to do with the open surgery to put in the feeding tube. The surgeon who did it did say it was possible it was nerve damage and suggested I try pain management. Which I was already looking into.

The pain management doctor did agree with me. So I have been diagnosed with chronic abdominal nerve pain from the incision. He put me on butrans patch 20 mcg and norco 5's twice a day.

Then a couple weeks ago I had the tube removed. Then I had a scare that the stricture may have returned and ended up in the er. I called my pain dr to let him know I was going to the er due to the naracotic contract. They gave me a dose of morphine, which doesn't do much for me. Then gave me a norco. They did an ultrasound and bloodwork which all came back normal.

I went back to my pain dr this past Monday. I told him what happened. We decided the patch is no longer working as well since I'm having increased pain. So he is going to ween me off of that. And somehow my last urine sample did not show the norco in my system eventhough I was taking it. I don't understand how that could happen. So he could not prescribe me more norco. He wants to try a neurotransmitter implant. So I have no idea what I'm supposed to do for the pain in the meantime. I had to give another urine sample. So maybe when I go back in 4 weeks he can give me something again. I hope.

I'm supposed to go for a psych eval and then do a trial to see if it would work. He did try a nerve block a couple months ago that helped for a few hours which is what he excepted. So he thinks it would work. I'm kinda nervous about it though.

After thinking about it and debating financial issues my husband and I have decided not to go the route of the implant at this time. Im waiting to hear back from my pain doctor to find out when I'm going to see him to discuss other options. Maybe on the future we will try it but for now we are putting it on hold.

I meant wouldn't prescribe the norco**

I will definitely have to suggest that to my doctor. Especially if the retest also is negative. I really don't want to be denied the meds because they aren't showing up eventhough I'm taking them.
