Since this was auto, not your fault, get a lawyer ASAP. If you don't get one right away much information may be lost. This is serious. I got only a fraction of what my case was worth because I delayed, thinking the at fault insurance would deal with me. No, they ignore you until it's too late to file a case.
Some of the doctors I saw refused to write that my injuries were due to my accident. That was the main reason I couldn't collect enough to pay for the help I need to do the work I used to do. Talk with your doctor to make sure he will write that you were injured. If he won't, you have to change doctors.
In my state our own insurance pays our medical bills until our own policy is exhausted. Then our own medical insurance pays. We can only sue for pain and suffering, lost wages, etc. You have plenty of pain and suffering!
