T9, your correct regarding the pain contracts. They are a result of doctors fearing retaliation from DEA. It's to bad we have come to this. I've been dealing with pain for eight years with opioid's. I've only been dealing with contracts for about a year and it was started taking it's toll. I was pissed off at the fact that I was all of a sudden being treated like a drug dealer on parole. It was like anything I did, totally innocent or not, as long as it, in any way, resembled some deviation to the doctors wishes(contract), I could be banished. It wasn't bad when the meds were doing what they were supposed to do, but when that inevitable day came that I needed to ask for an increase, my PTSD took on a life of it's own.
I suffer with a degenerative neuropathy, there's no cure for that, and degenerative would indicate that the pain will continue to get worse. Logically one would assume that with increasing pain would come increased pain meds. Not anymore, not in today's paranoid filled world.
A few days ago, Vickie posted the address of a site dedicated to the war on drugs, as well as to how that war affects the medical community. I've spent quite a while there lately, it will help answer many questions involving the prescribing habits and the laws regarding all sorts of things. It's pretty easy reading and very informative. I thank Vickie for directing me to it. T9, you might find a lot of solace in some of the misconceptions that will be discussed there. The sight is www.drugwarfacts.org, I bookmarked the sight and return to it frequently, give it a shot.......
