Monday check in

Good morning everyone. Here it is Monday again, time to check in & let us hear from you. I hope all had a good weekend with a good week ahead. Let us hear from you & tell us what you have planned for this week.

Not sure what is happening in my neck of the woods but according to my phone it is suppose to be 95 out today!!!! That is summer time weather not for the first part of May, lol. I will not complain though, the heat helps the bones.

Been away since Wednesday, catching up on my doctor appointments in MA....

My PCP is happy, my BP is down, my lab work looks good (except for cholesterol,...aaghh). But she's suspicious about some sx going on with my neck and arm, so off I go for an MRI and XRays.

Therapist was pleased, because after the fiasco this past month (an allergic reaction to MS Contin), the change my PMD made resulted in better pain management, less anxiety, and working towards more stability.

The neurologist who did my EMG on Friday, (I don't like him, he had a very bizarre attitude)....well he wasn't happy. (We were measuring to see changes/progress since my back surgery). I have a teensy bit of improvement, but not what he'd expect,.....and on the flip side, I'm also showing signs of some greater degeneration.

(The neuro,--who does the test himself, not a tech,...made a strange comment,....I told him I'm going back to my neurosurgeon,--whom I adore, btw,--to catch up & compare this EMG, as well as review the cervical imaging that's ordered.....well, he said, in all seriousness: "Well, he didn't cure you, so why would you go back to him? What do you expect him to do?")

Isn't that the most bizarre thing?

PMD appointment this morning. (Went well).

Follow up with breast surgeon this afternoon.

Very little sleep while I was away these past days (stayed at my MIL's,--whom I love to bits and bits, totally adore her, completely, and every way! But I'm a very quiet,-- like library quiet,-- kind of person, only child, love peace, one on one dialogue, privacy, stuff like that.....Mom-in-law, is a social butterfly who loves a full house, and even when her home health care comes,....she enjoys keeping them as long as possible for social visits).

And it's pregnancy central and kid central, everybody's in baby-mode and grammy-mode.....I don't think there was any quiet while I was there the whole time,....so I'm still in "recovery mode" (Gosh I'm such a sensitive soul, eh?) :P




Oh....and I'm so tired! :)

Hey everyone. I'm trying to be more active in this community so here I am checking in. The weather is beautiful today here in St louis. I was feeling a little discouraged this weekend from trying to find a new PM doctor and having to call and get my records from my old one but I know its necessary so I am trying to keep the faith and be positive. I hope you all are having a great Monday.

Neurosurgeon visit for me tomorrow too. Pain, spasticity and weakness getting worse, headaches again, checking on meningioma and syrinx. I crash on the couch every afternoon. Rehab doctor just gives me PT every 6 months.

I planned on stopping at grocery store next to PT but was too sore and tired after my very minimal session. Poor cat will have to do without treats another day. Her daughter is showing up every day for food and hunting up the hill. They don't actually catch anything. I'm glad! My grosbeaks and hummingbirds have arrived.

Our weather has been all over the place. Last week it got up to the mid 90s & today we're down to low 70s and a chance of rain. We've had pretty odd weather pattern changes. Last month we even had tornado warnings; VERY odd for northern CA.

Well today I went up to the Pain Clinic at the University of Indiana in Indianapolis for my monthly appointment. They got the results of my neuro/psych testing, and he wants me to wean off all my pain meds this week! Then Monday the 12th I go back up there for a trial injection of morphine into the spinal fluid in my lower thoracic spine. They told me after the injection I would have to stick around for several hours to be evaluated,, he said if I got fifty percent or greater relief from my pain it would be considered successful, and we could then process with scheduling me for surgery and what ever else has to be done to get the pain pump implanted.

So no refill on pain med today! But he did give me scripts for Valium and clonidine to ease the symptoms of withdrawal if I need them! I start weaning down today from 1tab every 8 hours to 1 tab every 12 hours and also do that for Tues, and Wed, then Thurs, Fri, and Sat. I go down to One tab once a day then nothing!!. This also applies to my percocet for break through. I have problems now with pain because the 10 mg every 8 hours has not been enough . last September I weaned down from 40 mg every 8 hours to 10 mg every 8 hours and that was just to low! Hopefully I will be getting the pump soon and then ( keeping my fingers and toes crossed) I hope we can get my pain under a bit better contol !!!

So this week should be interesting if not more painful!
