Monday's check-in!!

good morning everyone. hope today finds you well and in good spirits. had a good weekend. traveled down to cinncinati for my nephews graduation party (high school). i have 3 brothers that live there and was nice to see everyone. so far my pain levels have been tolarable being that it was a little bit of a drive from detroit.
plan on doing some things around the house today so hopefully i won't overdue it. hope everyone had a good weekend and the pain levels are good for ya. have a great day...:)

My worry for the week is what to do with the cat this coming weekend when we go to visit a son. It's only overnight, but Autumn's a mostly outdoor cat, no litter-box, critters will eat her food if I leave it outside, and she needs the protection of the house at night because we live out in the woods. I can get a grandson (7) to give her some food Sunday morning. Maybe that's enough. When I take on an obligation like feeding something I'm serious. I feed my birds even when I don't feel like it.

We had planned on a trip to Six Flags this Weds but the weather forecast sucks. They are calling for 50% chance of rain that day. We had thought about going to Indiana Beach as an alternative but they are calling for 80% chance of rain that day, so it looks like we will be staying home and trying again at the end of the month.

Tomorrow is the big day! After numerous calls to the hospital patient advocate early last week, I finally got scheduled for surgery to get the pain pump implanted. I keep my fingers and toes crossed that everything goes well, and maybe I will finally get some lower back pain relief and some sleep!

I have a new ns appointment tomorrow at 1030am PLEASE CROSS YOUR FINGERS HE WILL HELP ME!!
My current ns thinks its all in my head and has the attitude "I did my job, now its not my problem" told me there was nothing he could do for me. So I found a new dr who agreed to see me for a second opinion. I am in so much pain I really NEED him to help me. Then I have a sleep dr appointment at 2pm tomorrow, as I also have severe sleep issues (did a sleep study and I only sleep about 10 minutes an hour) needless to say, I am very tired everyday NOT TO MENTION CRANKY SO PLEASE PRAY THAT I GET SOME MUCH NEEDED HELP FROM BOTH DR'S TOMORROW, ESPECIALLY THE NEW NEUROSURGEON...I hope you all have a great day!!

I'm sorry I haven't supported very much lately. I have been battling some bad fatigue the last few months. I went and discussed some blood work last month with my pcp, and my potassium was low, so she put me on potassium pills. I've been taking iron tablets and vitamin D3 pills for a few months as well. She wants me to have a sleep study done, but I doubt I can sleep anywhere else except my own bed.

late checking in....I went for my MRI tonight(well last night now since it's now 1:25 am) of my lower back to hopefully find out what is causing all this pain in my right leg. I am really praying I won't need some other type of surgery for whatever is causing it.
Getting a much needed hair cut tomorrow morning but other than that nothing planned for this week or weekend. Yet anyways.....lol

Hello Chris and welcome to the CP forum at HW. My deepest sympathy over the loss of your Dad. Losing our parents is something we inevitably are bound for yet never prepared for. It's definitely a life changing event and a most difficult one no matter how old we are or they are. I was 40 when my Mom passed away and lost Dad less than 10 months later... 17 years later and I still feel the urge to pick up the phone and call them.

I'm sorry your dealing with loss and pain issues as well and glad to hear you have a supportive wife.

If I may ask why your afraid of more medicine? Using a short acting med such as Oxy ir is erratic in the pain coverage and the extended or long acting meds carry smoother, longer relief.

As for surgical intervention and not knowing exactly which its difficult to advise but if it becomes something that your Dr decides to push and requests your insurance company to approve please do your homework and know exactly what others who have had that type of spinal procedure have to say. We have a search feature here that allows you to enter the criteria and see every post or thread ever written here at HW and it can be a very useful tool and a fountain of information.

DR's tend to be misleading about many procedures and the recovery period so it's good to see those first hand statements.

I'd like to take a moment to welcome Chris to our wonderful forum. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I have no doubt that that intensifies everything you're feeling.....emotionally as well as physically.

You'll find a great network of supportive people here, lots of good information to share, and one of my favourite little "features" is the opportunity to vent when we really need to get things off our chest!

So very sorry to read about losing one of your parents. Its a tough one for sure, both of mine are now gone. Try to think of all the good memories that will help a little.
