How many people here are cna's that have had ACDF c4-7 ? I know this is a physical job and I have been doing it for 21 years. But the pain that comes with it is sometimes too much, now that I am getting ACDF in a month scares me .I would like to hear some input on this and see if anyone can share copping skills and pain relief secrets with me. THANKS!

Welcome scared to the chronic pain forums at HealingWell. Not sure how many are CNAs but can tell you there far too many Nurses and other medical folks here. Makes one wander exactly how to change the fact we do a whole lot of lifting, pulling ,and tugging folks usually for as long as our careers or backs last.
Sorry to hear your having problems and please do a forum search as well as internet search on the type of procedure your Dr has recommended and know what things that you may have some decisions in because there are some and they can be important. Many Surgeons don't discuss your options and merely do what they feel most comfortable doing and that may or may not be what is best for you.
Also consider the recovery time he gives you to be shy by weeks and possibly months as we see far too many post op people rushing to go back to work and not being able to and not recovering at the rate they were told they would.

As a side note, all of the women in my extended family have worked in the medical field, most of them nurses. Not a single one escaped unscathed....

My daughter is a LPN, and has had the operation already at the young age of 32yrs. Nursing is hard work and requires heavy lifting in many cases. Most nurses are over worked in my opinion.
