After my last encounter with my PM, I knew I would not be going back to her. Just nothing but problems with her from day 1. One being, she put me on Lyrica which caused horrible stomach swelling. I honestly looked pregnant. After an ER visit from that, multiple different drs- Gyn, internal medicine, colon/rectal specialist and ended w a colonoscopy. It was a nightmare. I called after each dr visit and said each dr said to discontinue the Lyrica. She kept saying to continue w it and that it would ease up.i was furious!!!! I had just had my fall and sure didn't need the added stress and discomfort let alone the added expenses incurred.
That is just a drop in the bucket. My surgeon did refill my Valium for muscle spasms, but decreased the amount and told me to start tapering down. I'm afraid the same will happen w my Percocet. So I need a new PM dr.
I have one in mind and asked my surgeon to please send a referral to him bc I know it takes awhile to be accepted and get an appt. So my question is I'm afraid of the proper protocol in changing PM drs. I haven't told the first one that I will no longer be coming back. The opioid agreement I signed states that I will not seek treatment w another PM dr. I'm a little concerned and confused with this. Do I need to send her a letter that I will not be coming back or just wait until I sign the release of records to the new PM. That is IF surgeon agrees to send the referral.
I have been taking less Percocet lately bc I am scared to be left with nothing. Of course this has way increased my pain levels. Anyway, any opinions on changing PM and proper protocol on this will sure be appreciated. Thank you.
