Please help with pain in foot fracture!!!

I cannot stand this pain, it feels like someone is literally breaking my foot over and over, the pain is incredible, it dies down for a bit, never goes away then here it comes, omg.

Fractured the calcaneus (heel) and saw the Ortho again yesterday who said the numbness I have over 1/2 my foot and big toe is not normal, the intense pain is not normal, how you can have intense numbness then intense pain at the same time is crazy but I have it going on. It's also creeping up my leg.

Before this happened I was having pain/pin and needles in my left leg/foot and big toe but nothing like this.

Ortho did ask me if I was having problems with this foot before this happened,

I am so afraid and so fed up and so in pain!!!!!! this is never ending. what is going on? he doesn't know, the fracture is not the only thing that he is sure of so what now?

I will try to get a same day appt on Monday to see my Dr and go from there, I feel crippled and actually am.

Please can anyone help me? xx

I think I mentioned in another post to you, I feel like the queen when it comes to breaking bones in my feet. It's always been the left one (aka: the one with foot drop).

Each time, I swear it's *the* most painful (or in the top 5) thing I can recall.

Holiday weekend and hate to say, but lots of docs not only don't work on the holiday but many take the next week off for holiday. Hopefully yours won't.

But call on Tuesday straight away.

And keep the foot elevated! Don't use it!

I do not know what you are using for pain control but I will tell you what happened when I fell & broke my arm. I had 4mg of Dilaudid for BT pain which I only used in dire circumstances. SO, after going to ER after the fall I came home & took one only to do the usual got real sick at my stomach. I forgot to take a Zofran before the Dilaudid & in all honesty the Dilaudid did nothing for my arm pain. My neighbor happens to be an RN & he came over to check on me & I told him about what happened. He said do you have any Ibuprofen, I said no why? He said well for one thing right now you have a lot of inflammation going on in there & two it has a pain reliever too. He went home & brought me a bottle of it, 200mg & said take 4 to start with & I did. That comes out to prescription strength & that is what I took for my broken arm & I never touched the Dilaudid again.

If you have not tried this then you may want to consider giving it a shot.

Dr gave me the highest dose of Norco which to be honest and this is not me at all, the pain gets so bad I double up on them within an hour, still doesn't take pain all away. Last night I felt so sick, so out of it, hate that feeling.

Dr at the ER also gave me a prescription for Naproxen.
Going to try the Ibuprofen, thanks for the tip.

Yes, have pain in my lumbar area, had an EMG done and it showed pinched nerve in my left elbow and an irritated nerve at that pesky C7 but nothing in the lumbar area which was surprising.

Pain/numbness/tingling was going on before this fall in my left big toe, sometimes top of foot and ankle numbness.

The top of my foot is killing me too, when it's pressed in a certain area the pain shoots out, the Ortho said on the X-ray there is something going on there, a chipped bone maybe? this wasn't happening before the fall.

Going to call my Dr tomorrow to get in to see her and go from there, all very frustrating, before my car accident and this fall I now now know how lucky I was to never have any pain :(
