Just to remind some of what all happened. My 78 year old mother had a fusion reversal and then TLIF with hardware (august 20). I think that is right terms. The level was L4, L5. Recovery was tough. When released to swingbed she had 27 pounds of fluid, which in turn had caused a heart attack a few days prior. Had a heart cathe, but unable to do anything but treat with meds. She has had quad by pass and stents previously. Just does not have good arteries. Back to swingbed for one night and more chest pains. Spend a night in hospital with another borderline heart attack.
She has now spent 5 days in her swingbed and is doing great. She is getting up and down good. Remarkably well for her age and all that she has been through. She will be there about
another 10 days for therapy.
Thanks for the prayers and please keep them coming.

Thanks for the update and relieved to see she's improving and will continue to keep her in my thoughts for a complete recovery and hopes that she will be back home soon.

She is getting up assisted. I think she is getting up some unassisted. I have preached and preached to her that this fusion will take many months and just because she does not mean she should. She is tough and hard headed. I am glad she is able but do no want to see her fall at this point. She doesn't realize what that would do to her. Probably never walk again.
She has so much fight in her. Which is great.
I saw my neurosurgeon the evening of her surgery. Had moving x-rays. Waiting to hear back from him. I have been put on the back burner. Luckily, my pain doc had me change fent patch to every 48 hours and I am better. Would never had made the many nights on hospital cot and hour long drives back and forth. Will contact him this week if I don't get a call.

Older people can be tough ones to deal with no doubt. She is a tough one I will give her that. Lets hope she will behave herself so to speak but sometimes they are so set in their ways.
I hope that you get some good news & let us know what you find out. Hospital cots/chairs are the very worst for sleeping even if a person has a good back.
Take care.

Hey Big...As I said earlier, it's great news about
your mom. I have to say from experience, though...
You must take care of YOU.
Please remember that, sweetie=)

So glad that your mom is doing better. I know how stubborn they can be though. When I took care of mom after her fall, she wanted to do things that she was not supposed to do and could have really harmed herself if I would have allowed it. I told her at one point that if I had to sit on her to make her do what the doctor said then I would lol. Of course she just felt useless and that's where the stubborn nature came from because she was so used to doing everything on her own for so long.
I do hope your mom continues to improve and that she just takes it easy and heals. She can start walking marathons after she's all healed up :P
