mammogram after acdf?

Thought i would start another topic,.im overdue for my mammogram. ..how long after this surgery should i wait ? Any suggestions. ...all you woman know what im talking about when i say you have to get really close to that monster of a machine and get super squished! Ugggg. ..not looking forward to it...but it needs done !

Been there done that. It's not really worse than before the fusion. I'm well-endowed and it does hurt, but no more than before. If it's too painful, they CAN squish less and jack up the x-ray a little, but you have to squawk loudly.

It is harder to get to the center, and you might get tired, so I'd take a driver and plan to not stop for anything except maybe some food.

It's really important to keep up with the mammos. I developed a little C in the year between but was saved because it was still small and treatable.

You're already late, so make the appointment and "git 'er done!"

How far post-op are you? Is your incision healed? Can you lift your chin up very high? I just had mine last week so I'm trying to picture all those awkward positions. Do you have any problem moving your shoulder back, then up? It might be good to just ask when making your appointment if there is a required amount of time to wait.


I've always found those techs to be the kindest people. Just be sure to tell the one doing it about your acdf. I'm sure they will work with you on it so you can "git 'er done!"  

You have quite enough stess, for which I'm very sorry. So marking this off your list might help.

I'm not sure how different the procedure is, but my doctor now doesn't send patients for mammograms, but thermal breast imaging, because of all the false positives given by mammograms. Maybe you should ask about that. I think it's called Thermography? Anyway, good luck!

Thanks for all the info ! Abilene i will be 4 weeks Thursday! I see the surgeon tomorrow (Tuesday)
