norco/hydrocodone changes

I get Norco every month, but this last script they were not my normal ones I get. Is this because they are changing them? Taking out acetometiphin(sp)? I usually get the yellow ones with a v on it, but these were white and don't seem to work as good. Anyone know what's up.

Were they made by the same manufacturer?
Are they the same dosage?

I would call the pharmacist!

Not all generics are the same, assuming you are getting a generic. My pharmacist will order me pills from a different company when I complain about one brand not working well.

Pharmacies often have different suppliers and so you can end up with pills from different manufacturers.

Look at the imprint and Google it.

"M366" is what i now have, but in the past did get the yellow ones.

If they aren't working, it may be the binders or a bad company (Caraco for example - who periodically gets fined for their poor products)

Double check with the pharmacy but I think it's just a different manufacturer like the others are saying.

When I was on Norco, the same thing happened to me but they went from white to yellow with the V. I thought the white worked better!

I heard that whomever makes the little yellow ones,that everyone thinks are better,are just late to the shelf.

The repackaging and all.

A friend that got his filled this week.I guess the pharmacy told him.

They'll probably have them next month.

The color can be by the country you live in, dosage, amount of acetominophen, or manufacturer. The yellow or white oblong ones are usually 10mg hydrocodone. The pinkish/light orange ones 7.5mg. The white with pink specs can be 5mg.

I get no relief from acetominophen and I get side effects from it, so I ask for the least amount of that.

If your pills are round, check that you actually got the right medicine.

Write down the name of the manufacturer in your pain journal every time you get a refill!

The yellow ones are made by QualTest. I love them too. Last month QualTest stopped making them. No news on whether they are going to start manufacturing again, likely not as they are a smaller company & had to absorb the loss when Norco was pulled from pharmacies & changed to a Schedule II narcotic.

Another brand I like is called Watson, its white but good quality like the yellows IMHO. You need to special order these brands. Tell your PM to write it on script & it will add 1-2 days onto getting your script filled so factor this in. Otherwise you are stuck with the cheap crappy ones that feel weak.

Generics can legally be within 20% of the dose of the active ingredient. So you are most likely getting only 80% of the dose prescribed.

This has nothing to do with the dose of acetominephen.

Thanks guys...it's so weird how that the same thing essentially can be totally different. I hope they don't stop making the yellow ones. So are they making all hydrocodone without acetometiphin now? I do get the lowest amount now..I think it's 10/325. But it would be great if they completely took it out.

Yes, hydrocodone is made without acetaminophen, but you're not likely to get it prescribed unless you have an allergy to Tylenol.

Zohydro ER is the name of the new extended release hydrocodone. It only contains hydrodocone. It went on the market in the U.S. in March 2014. It is very expensive because it is so new. It has also been controversial due to the rate of addiction and abuse with hydrocodone.

Wow, that is wonderful and way past time! I always ask my dr why on earth we need Tylenol as a filler. Do you have good insurance and just pay a copayment?
Trying to get an idea of cost. This might help me a lot right now. I have been taking Norco for years and would love to take one pill that just contains what I need. I am presuming it is still 325?

Zohydro ER does not contain any tylenol. Prescription meds that do contain tylenol cannot exceed 325 mg of tylenol

I don't take Zohydro ER. But when I saw you were taking Norco and that you were concerned about the tylenol, I thought I would mention the Zohydro. But it is very expensive and not all insurance will pay for it.
