So after reading that horror story which Walgreens is flagging certain customers and not filling their meds I was very nervous walking in there last night.  I did go to my grocery store pharmacy first and he said they are too small and just not stocking Percocet like they have in the past (probably a Walgreens type scenario there too).

Let me back up first and talk about my PM Dr. appointment.  I was scheduled for an injection but I wanted to talk to him first about my meds and how I'm having difficulty getting them filled.  His assistant called the pharmacy next door and found out they have Vicodin in stock only and he wrote me a script for that.  He told he'd give me a weeks worth then I'd come back for the injection and he would figure this oxycodone thing out.  I go over to the pharmacy but my insurance doesn't cover it, $317.  I walk back over with the Vicodin script and tell him to give me the Percocet script back and I'll try to get it filled somewhere, hopefully.

So I walk into Walgreens, hand him the script, he looks up my name and insurance then walks away to check stock.  He comes back and says it'll be ready in the morning.  I just checked my Walgreens app on my phone and it actually is ready for pick up.  I'll let you know if something happens when I get there, like them telling me this is the last time or something.

Should we really have to go thru all this? Sems every month we have to walk on pins and needles and scared to death they are going to come up with some craziness that prevents us from getting what we always get. I also have an expired ID from none other than Ky trying to fill in FL but doing it for 6 years without any issues and I guess when the new thing came about they could add another notch to the checklist fails. The saddest issue of all is I have been here 6 years,am on SSDI,paid into a system for 30+ years,drove for 50 and have never ever even left the US but because of one piece of paper missing and cannot no way no how produce it because it doesnt exist I cannot get any kind of license or ID or even a SS card now because you have to have a current pic ID for that. I cant pick my meds up,my child up,have any kind of surgery or even sign up for help with XMAS,utility bills,I cant even rent a motel room!!! The DMV has no isea other then to legally change my name infront of a judge and bring that paper to them and that cost $400 here in Florida,half of my monthly income. Yet I go to DMV and argue with them occasionally and the entire waiting room is full of people with translators and Visa's from out of the country.

I went through ten years of what you are talking about and it is shear hell. I don't know if this will help but in NM they allowed me to get a State issued ID Card that worked in all situations except driving. All I needed was my old Driver's License which, as I recall, you still have. A year later I was able to get a DL with no problem. Have you contacted the DMV in Kentucky about this problem, maybe they can expedite this. You might even have to resort to the Feds but going without a DL is expensive, I had to pay a couple of minor traffic fines and the ticket for driving without a valid DL was over $300. As far as the hoops and jumps at pharmacies go, this has been in the wind for at least two years now. It all began with the Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) which was meant to help stop diversion. Unfortunately, it has also resulted in Pharmacists playin Dr. With our pain med Rxs. As a Cancer patient I have been able to discover that those signs about limiting scripts for pain meds to 120 pills do to limited stock are a bunch of hooey. They are required by law to fill Cancer patients Rxs no matter what the amount and they always seem to have enough to fill my #240 Rx . . . Q

I'm tired of walking on pins and needles.

Well I picked up my script at Walgreens so I'm safe for another month. We will see how long this goes on. I think it's just a matter of time.

Going back to my PM Dr for injections and we need to figure this out next week.

My local pharmacy says he will be able to get me Opana in place of my Percocet since my insurance does cover it.  What say those?  Opana like Percocet?

This is what edit me off: "I'm safe for another month": we all go through this when it gets close to our refill time. So tired of it. So bloody tired.

This is a horrible situation. I haven't ran into any problems filling my Schedule 2 Fentanyl patches yet, but I'm sure eventually there will be some resistance at the pharmacy.

My main issue is that I am on medicaid in Illinois and there is a 4 Rx limit, meaning they only pay for 4 scripts per month. The pharmacy can request an override and if that doesn't work then the doctor has to fill out paperwork and send it in. The sheer amount of scripts I have is what causes me problems. I'm still applying for disability and I have 10 scripts per month and 1 that is every 3 months. I have to figure out how to pay out of pocket on some of my meds and sometimes I just can't afford it. I save a lot of money with discounts and stuff but some meds are almost $300 for a 30 count. Pharmacy/prescription drugs in this country is crazy...there are so many problems.

I get my Fent 50mcg patches, Soma, Nucynta and Amrix at my Ma & Pa pharmacy every month no problem. It's the Percocet that's an issue. Every month I sweat getting this filled. My Ma & Pop pharmacy says Opana substitute for the Percocet and they can fill all my scripts. I may just do this.

Markh, if your drs think you need the prescriptions they should do the Prior Approval paperwork so Medicaid will pay for them. That is all that is needed for prescriptions over the 4 limit to be paid for by Medicaid. Have you told your drs that you cannot pay for the rxs ? If not they may not be aware you're having to pay for them. Or they may think that you paying for them doesn't cause any problems for you.
