The title should really read "pain from the cookie," but that wasn't funny.
I picked up the grandkids from school so they could decorate my tree. Even at 4, 6 and 8 they really are helpful. They put plastic ornaments on the bottom for the cat. Then we got started baking cookies.
One of the kids is allergic to gluten, so their mom had made up a gluten-free shortbread cookie mix and had rolled it out. I kept it cold on the tractor in the garage, fearing it would be too warm in the house. That was mistake number 1. The kids couldn't push the cookie cutters through the dough. Even when it warmed up it was too hard and crumbly. They got a few cut out and then I put in some more milk and we rolled it out again.
The kids had a great time cutting out the cookies, which were pretty good as long as we had round shapes. I handled the baking. I lifted out the whole sheets of parchment paper to keep the decorating mess to a minimum. I realized I was getting grumpy. Mistake number 2 was being late on the pain meds.
The kids got the decorating done in time for dinner, at home, thankfully. I was exhausted.
Today I woke up in some of the worst morning pain, took 2 hours to be able to get dressed. Tonight I have a bad headache - too much moving the neck and arms yesterday. But I'm glad I didn't miss it!
It's really more fun and funnier in the doing than the telling. I hope it give some CPers a smile.
