Trigger Finger Release Surgery (thumb) both hands at the same time?

Hello. I had Carpel Tunnel surgery performed this past summer on both my hand (two surgeries) and both hands are doing great!! Weird thing is that I now I need Trigger Finger Release Surgery on both my thumbs. I never had problems with them but over the past two months both hands have locked up and I am in a great deal of pain and even after a cortisone injection I still am in significant pain. My doctor said I need to do a Release on both hands and based on the recovery information I have read I am seriously considering doing both hands at the same time. Any advise or personal information on doing both hands at the same time would be welcome.

I would think twice about having them both done at the same time. It is not about the recovery, but having them both done at the same time it will be almost two weeks, until the stitches come out, that you will need someone to help you with your personal needs.

Unfortunately, when drs tell us this stuff its straight out of the textbook which means nothing to us patients. We end up finding out the hard way. Its like one of the members said, having both done at the same time is going to really limit you. If it were me, no I would not do them both at the same time, but ultimately its your decision.

You will have your hands wrapped up for at least a few days. My doc didn't want me to unwrap until my post-op appointment at 2 weeks. For at least a few days you are supposed to have your hands in the big "Swiss cheese" foam block for protection and elevation.

I wouldn't do both at once, but ask the doc!
