Wx2...So sorry you're still hurting, sweetie. Please remind me...Did you have emergency treatment including tests, scans and x-rays immediately following your accident? I don't want to frighten you, but you need to rule out skeletal injury in the neck...referral to neuro to be certain? Yes, muscular pain can be intense, but you must be cautious to rule out further damage before proceeding. I know your pain. I promise you that you'll be needing that neck for a very long time.
Don't have much to add to previous posts, as those are EXCELLENT suggestions. Physical therapy IMO is essential for those types of injuries. I know exactly what you're going through, as I've gone through it more times than once! I am disappointed that your GP hasn't ordered some PT through massage, with warm moist alternating heat therapy.
Of course I'm no doctor, just a student of life, Phd (pain has debilitated). I was just told by my ortho and consulting neuro that although my neck is a "mess" from multiple injuries, surgery is not the answer. He confirmed what I know, which is that the curvature is reversed, causing pressure on C5, 6, 7 and TI. I also suffer with progressive arthritis and DDD, posterior herniation of L4, 5 with some nerve compression. You know the rest as per my signature.
I was in my first near fatal crash in HS with my mom and older sister. We were airlifted from the scene, broken and tattered like rag dolls. The good news is that we lived. The bad news is that we've had to live with the lifelong pain of sustained injuries. I've had 3 more close calls due to others' wrecklessness, re-injuring my neck and back, pelvis and tailbone.
I am just thankful you are HERE and that we didn't lose you, friend. Pamper yourself. Talk to your GP about the possibility of some therapy, so that you can slowly work into modality/ROM exercises with medical supervision, to address the stiffness. I hope you feel better.
Hugs~~Dixie
