It's been a very hard week

Having issue's with a lump in the arch of my foot and making walking difficult causing the domino effect with my knees and not getting enough walking in. If that wasn't enough I woke yesterday feeling nasty and by 5 yesterday evening fever raging at 104,have not a clue why. Nothing directly causing it other than I feel sick. Had my teen in ER last week and guessing I picked up a virus or something like that, lot's of kids in there sick. Treating symptoms at the moment but have pm appointment Monday and am likely going to have to change it in case this is a contagious bug and not wanting to pass it on.

Just wanted to let everyone know why I am Mia.

There are some nasty bugs going around right now. Some seem to hit with a cough that doesn't want to go away and I know of another that hits the stomach. Like you need this on top of your other health issues. Sorry about your foot. Take care of yourself and am sending you a special prayer that this virus goes away soon. Rufous

Hey Vickie...So sorry to read of your woes.  Tis the season for allergies, sinus infections w/high fevers (DH last week on his birthday) and just general YUK!?

As for the foot...possible Plantar Fasciatis?  My heel hurt for over a year every time it touched the floor. (I would howl in pain). I did as you described, adjusting my gait to keep my weight off as I hobbled along.  I didn't tell my GP for the longest time, because I REALLY thought I had bone cancer.  YEP, pain was that severe.  He placed shots in the bursa (FUN) a couple of times before referring me to ortho.

She diagnosed PF instantly, and began steroid injections and PT to get it to "release".  Otherwise, we were off to surgery to clip the tendon. (NO).  Thankfully, with intensive treatment, it finally eased.  I wish I'd gotten it treated sooner, before the need for moon boot, causing stress fracture and intensified knee/spine pain.

Please get it checked out asap.  I understand about hesitancy to spread germs.  I wish others were that considerate=)  I joke that I'm going to start wearing a painters' mask everywhere, after I paint a sock monkey face on it! It seems folks are coughing, harking and sneezing all over the place.  My immune system is toast, so I can stand next to someone with gas, and...well, you know.

I seriously hope you feel better FAST.  That new in ground pool awaits you!  Flash floods have created mud "pools" here over the weekend, but thankfully no tornadoes...yet.

Well that raging fever was caused by non other than the FLU,yes after my sil got sick and needed Dr note for work so stopped by the VA clinic and swab test says flu. Too late to treat either of us but only have had one visitor to the house and one of the kid's get sick after we knew that we had it. Needless to say at almost 60 and health issues I'm now going into the 2nd week feeling not new. I was able yesterday to keep down grape soda and cottage cheese and yes I know how that sounds but any taste less bold triggers my yuck mode and after 6 days with not one bite of solid food and very little liquid I took what I could get. Meds were another issue since that ungodly high fever seem to be burning them up and causing pain levels to soar with some withdrawal to boot.

I actually feel a whole lot better than I did a week ago but like any old 40 year smoker before being able to quit I suffer copd and emphysema and the dry hacking cough carries on day and night with nothing working to calm it down. I have coughed so much for so long I have busted blood vessels in my eyes, as a post partial hysterectomy who had 6 pregnancies I also have little to no bladder control during the coughing spells either so I still have not ventured out. I missed my PM appointment last Monday and I have to get in there this Monday or I will be without meds.

Back to my foot Dr to try to figure that out and Dixie I am thinking they're leaning towards that same conclusion since we discussed some pt for exercises and some injections but didn't get to go back to follow up with anything yet. The exercise paper's she gave me to look at are not going to be happening due to the mobility issues of the knees broken hardware so not sure where thats headed yet so stay tuned for more on that.

Daughter still having problems with allergies and she's miserable and miserable teens are not pleasant. Some fluid in the ear we're watching at the moment and she's been state testing during this and not being able to take her antihistamines because they make her "stupid " she says.

That's the update from here where the weather has been great and the sparkling now warmer pool is calling my name!!!

Going to try to read and catch up on everyone now and thanks for your well wishes and prayers.

 

  Yikes, Vickie!  Bless your heart...I can feel the agony in your post.  I've been nauseas and doing more projectile vomiting than normal (even for me).  I don't have flu...just an ANGRY GI system from wear and tear of FAILED med trials.  So...yep the grape and cottage cheese made me swallow HARD...but whatever works to make you feel BETTER, friend.

I'm so sorry you've been through the wringer with this flu stuff.  We've been fortunate to avoid it, but have family member who have had it, then relapsed into a worse case.  So, PLEASE take the time and the meds necessary to get you feeling better.  Do you think you need some fluids/nutrition through IV.  We KNOW that dehydration in and of itself is a BEAR.

Re: foot pain...If it is Plantar Fasciatus (sic) I can testify, hand over heart...the pain is indescribable.  If you can get in for injections, you would get some easing of the acute pain.  I hope that you don't require the severing of the tendon.  I would recommend considering the long term ramifications of that surgery.  I know that you, like I, have knees that are shot...and for me, a spine that's a ticking time bomb.  All of the above gets thrown off by tring to pamper that foot pain.

I'm with fingers crossed that while you're out for the PM appointment, you can swing by and get some injections into that foot.  I would have long since been wheel chair bound if not for those AND Synvisc One in both knees.
