Don't apologize for separation anxiety from DH.  Mine brings me such strength when I am in "warrior mode" facade, yet falling apart inside.  And...He holds my hair while I vomit...good guy!

Leila, do whatever you need to keep somewhat balanced.  I pray for the best, but anticipate the worst.  I'm just so sorry that your dad has suffered all these weeks.

Still holding you and yours in prayer. It's good to return home. No doubt that bed will feel wonderful! I'm going to hope for a solid night of restful sleep and a less painful day tomorrow. Maybe a bit of sitting in the sun for a moment of peace is in order, too.
Take it easy tomorrow....don't try to cram all that catching up stuff into one day, eh?!

  Hey Leila...I guess at this point, your poor dad is "holding his own".  Just his sitting in a chair shows he's still got some FIGHT in him.  I agree with him...those hospital beds are rough on the bones!

I hope your daughter's appointment goes well and you can get some "down" time with your family.  Take care, friend and keep us posted.

Leila, I've had 2 ganglionectomies and then a tenolysis to remove scar tissue. Please ask the physical therapist to put a "scar pad" over the incision area. It's puts just a little pressure on the scar area to keep it from getting thick and causing as much trouble as the ganglion did! I didn't have it for my first surgery in '83, they didn't use one after my second surgery in '03 either, so by the time I had the tenolyis done, with a hand therapy specialist to follow, I had the scar pad AND this contraption that kept my wrist bent down, for 20 minutes, several times a day, just to keep the scar tissue at bay! Are they planning a denervectomy also? I didn't have that the first time, but the second and third one's they did it. It's supposed to keep you from getting another ganglion, but didn't in my case! I wouldn't bother. The loss of sensation is bad enough around the scar! Oh, and KEEP IT OUT OF THE SUN!!! Otherwise, she will have a white line!!!!!! Those sweat bands that runners use on their wrists are perfect cover for the scar area! My surgeons made the incisions along the crease so it barely shows, but I went out in the sun and in the summer, I have a nice white line that draws attention to it now!

I'm soooo glad you got some sleep! "There's no place like home!" is sooo true!

I hope the confusion gets cleared up about your dad. At this point, you probably want something definitive. Limbo is not a nice place to be! Praying for your peace of mind..............

I'm so sorry there is nothing more they can do for your dad, I will continue to pray for him and your family.

No one wants to accept that as the answer, your mom will find acceptance at her own pace, in her own time. I'll continue to pray for her and for all of you as you walk this difficult path.

I hope for a successful surgery with your daughter and for a peaceful Mother's Day for you.

I'm so sorry for you, your Mom and family. I know this is never a easy thing to hear and do but there will be times when the best most loving thing you can do is nothing at all. As we age and our bodies start breaking down to be put through major treatments and surgeries that likely won't change the outcome its almost cruel to continue them. What I am trying to say is if your Dad is like most people who have had something like this he too is tired and hopeful he can just be out of pain and misery and able to enjoy his family and loved ones for whatever time he has left versus being in the hospital, being cut on, stuck, poked an prodded, and allowed only a few minutes during the day to spend time with family. Hospice an palliative care puts the choices back in you, your Mom and family and of course his hands if he's able and that's got to be better than cold, sterile surroundings with your days filled with strangers.

Make each day count and may you find and know peace through having been blessed with an awesome dad in your life!!

Prayers for your Mom as she also tries to come to terms with such a painful situation.
