Hello friends. Just wanted to let you all know, my computer has been acting up again and since the weather will be heating up with no air conditioning it gets to be around 100 degrees in the living room. Too much for the computer fan to handle. I'll check in now and then but I don't want anyone to worry if you don't see me as much for a while.

Pitmom, wow now thats just too hot to be inside. If its a laptop which is what I use, I take mine outside a lot on the back porch just to be outside. I am curious as to what state you live in to have temps like that so early in the year, can't imagine when summer hits. So sorry that you are having to cut back on time here. But we so seem to have it somewhat slow the closer it gets to summer because people are busy with outdoor activities.

You will be missed and just a bit envied since you will be out enjoying your beautiful yard. At least I hope you are able to enjoy it after all the work you have put in to it. I will miss your 'word pictures' of all that you are doing. Take good care of yourself!

you can always use a regular fan and just cool the comp externally. Or they make laptop cooling pad type things. I've used both methods successfully.

I've been checking on folks every few days.. My wrists are giving me fits so I lurk much more than I input.

Holy heck....That's too hot for me! LOL. Get out, enjoy that gorgeous garden that we got a 'snapshot' of. It's not even close to that where I'm at--so ya'll are stuck with me for a while. smilewinkgrin

Aw, thanks for all the good thoughts! Every time my grandson gets on this computer, it starts acting up and needless to say, he's been on it recently!

Just to clarify, this is a desktop, which I keep in one of those 'office cabinets' to help keep the dust at bay and the cats off the keyboard! There is no way to direct an additional fan on the tower. I live in a mobile home which, in winter is an ice box and in summer is a toaster oven! I don't run an air conditioner in the living room because opening and closing the front door, for the grandson and the cats, it would be pointless! The bedrooms and bathroom are cooled though! We had a great summer last year, but the year before that the thermostat in the living room actually read 107*!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter posted some pics of the garden on Facebook for me. Find me and I will 'friend' you! Of course, I won't be on there much either! It's rainy again today. Tomorrow I will clean the fountain and restart it. The pollen was clogging it up! I finally finished the slip covers for the patio chairs and made 2 little pillow cases for the toss pillows. Somehow, one pattern faces one direction and the other is the opposite! Oh well! They are even more unique now!

Does the cabinet have an open back? If so, you can put a fan pointed at the opening. (I live in FL and in several of my living situations I haven't had central air so I've done it all! LOL)

If it doesn't have an open back and the tower is completely enclosed, that might be part of the problem. Having air circulating is key so having the tower enclosed can affect performance and cooling.

Take the sides off and put a regular fan on it to keep it cool, that's what I do with mine, I'm in Texas and need to keep my desktop very well ventilated...and I have a regular house fan on it..also keep it clean, open it up and vacuum the dust out...

I love wee outdoor lights--the hubby calls them fairy lights and lets me drape them anywhere I like. Last year I had them in the hibiscus bush, not sure I'll stop at one strand this year. LOL. THIS on top of the pinwheel lights on the wreath out back--we'll look like a summer carnival! :-)

Awww. I feel so wanted! Thank you all for the suggestions. Extra fans may work for the computer, but I draw the line for myself at 90 degrees! I will pop in when I can, early in the morning most likely.

Melagain, We put so much effort into the flower garden, but when night falls, it disappears! I'm loving being just as creative with the lights as I have been with the flowers! Can't wait for the 'summer' crop at the garden center. White nicotiana (tobacco plant) not only shows up well at night, that's also when the scent is strongest. I try to put some pots of it near any seating. I also have marigolds in pots near the seats as it helps keep away mosquitos!

If anyone tends to put their houseplants outside for 'summer vacation'...marigolds help keep away white fly, which tends to be a problem for houseplants. I'm using them this year in the strawberry bed. It's working!

Why not use window fans for your living room? sounds like that would work. even if the door is swinging open and closed. 107 is just too hot and that really is not good. Marigolds do keep some pests away, garlic and not garlic salt can also keep some pests away...I grew roses and after the hole was dug I would add human hair from my hair brush, tobacco from two of my husbands cigs and that would aid in the stuff roses thrive on...it's in my older garden roses book...
Baby powder helps keep fire ants away..., I got this trick from a person that has horses...

Um, Char, I have 2 window fans plus a pedestal fan. Air circulation is not the problem for the living room itself. It's the fact that the house is METAL and has NO SHADE. Once it's hot, it's hot. PERIOD. Waahhh!

Wow, I would be investing in an AC unit. That sort of temp is just too hot with no AC.

No offense but Grandson and cats would have to find alternative ways to go in and out!! It's too hot for you to be living in that and not to mention the animals as well. They have doggy doors for cat's and children can learn that opening and closing doors running in and out is expensive!! If you have a hall door shut off air vents there and or close doors off hallway and use that as a main exit possibly? That kind of heats unhealthy and provides a perfect backdrop for germs and stuff to grow.
