Medical marijuana for pain management- anyone?

I'm wondering if it's possible to stop taking opiates and muscle relaxers and switch to MM. I will be living in a state where it's legal for medical purposes.

I'm not sure exactly what the success rate is but we have not had many here claiming to have went that route although some have added it to their regimen of what helps.

Hey Micky.I'm sure it would be somewhat effective by itself.There are strains that are recommended for pain as well as depression and anxiety.

I think Opiates are the most effective thing.It's been shown over time.

IMO,marijuana seems to make the pain medicine work a little better.It also allows you to take less pain medicine at times.

Pain Management Doctors probably have their rules about it.I would imagine they would allow it where you live.

Where I live every PMD I have seen says "no" but doesn't test for it.

I take that to mean "yes".

If you're in Pain Management check with them.Wouldn't want you to get dismissed.

Hi there - I have a lot of experience in this area. Yes, I think you can completely wean off of your opiates and use MM instead. However, it is very expensive. That's what prevents me from doing it entirely. If it were covered by insurance, I'd never need another opiate painkiller in my life. But as it is, I have to have both, because I pay $0 for my scripts, but a lot for MM.

My PM doctor allows it. Part of my contract says I won't use MM while using my pain meds. The PA who gave me that to sign made sure to give me a nudge-nudge wink-wink to say "we don't really expect you to follow that rule". No issues from their office.

I will say that I prefer edibles, topicals, and capsules. I don't like to smoke anything, it really hurts my lungs. The flower you buy to smoke, though, is way cheaper than the other delivery methods.

Being completely cut off from pain management is a concern. How is pain controlled when I travel to areas where MM is not legal?

If its not legal in a state you travel to then you are putting yourself at potential risk.

There are a lot of pain management Dr that will dismiss you if you test positive,even if it is legal in your state. So be sure and discuss it Before you try it.

I used to live in Colorado and had mmj for pain from hip dysplasia I've had since I was a baby. Also had Norco as a backup, but I didn't use even close to what I take now. My husband and I grew our own and he mAde me cbd pills that only had the cbds and not much thc. So we had the best strains for pain and his stomach issues. Boy do I miss Colorado!! My doctor here said if it was legal here she would prescribe it to me,but not here yet...I hope this state will wake up soon and realize mmj benefits. Ask your local weed shop if they have cbd pills or a strain that has more cbd than thc. Good luck and I don't think it will take u completely off the meds but you'll be able to cut down quite a bit.

If it was legal in my state I would also be trying it, but in a brownie form and starting with the smallest possible dose. Do all your homework on it and look into it's costs...and definitely tell your doctor about it....I really wish they would do controlled federal studies of this...

I am a vaper and tried cbd infused juice. It did not help at all with my pain. Would medical mj be different?

I have a friend in Oregon who swears by it. She has chronic back issues as well as major endometriosis and she primarily uses mm, makes an oil capsule out of it.

I will be moving to Oregon soon and plan to try this as well, I am so concerned about the number of pain meds I'm on.
