I will never do a colon prep with Suprep again! (magnesium sulfate / potassium sulfate / sodium sulfate) Not sulfites! Of the half dozen or so scopes I've had, this prep was by far the worst, even worse than the old whole gallon one years ago.
The taste was the worst gagging-maker of anything I've ever had, and I chew up opioids and aspirin. The flavor was a lot like aspirin, just went on and on for 2 cups worth. The only way to even get it down was holding my nose, although it doesn't have any odor.
Then, getting up at 3AM to repeat the process was the pits all over again.
On top of everything, it didn't do a good job!
I much preferred the one I had last time with the Dulcolax pills and the mag citrate.
Doc (my surgeon because he knows my gut and is a lot less hurried than my former gastroenterologist) said I have a whole lot of diverticula (plural of diverticulum) the whole length of what's left of my colon, especially the distal end where I have constant pain. I can tell he had a hard time getting around the hepatic flexure (splenic flexure was taken down previously). I'm really sore from someone pushing there. At least the anastomosis was good, no strictures. He commented on a lot of spasming going on, but I think it might have been from that prep. I was still having lots of gurgling when I went in.
No answer for the pain, nausea. Gallbladder ultrasound, barium swallow next.
PS: Diarrhea, spasms the next day and night. Never had that before from any of the preps, and yes, it's from the prep!
