Monday check-in

Good morning all this is check-in where we all meet on Monday to share how our weekend was and what the week ahead holds for you. Welcome to the new members and glad to have you join us.

The weekend has been bumpy for some folks along the coast but here is Florida we got only some really great waves,lower humidity and temperatures so we were the lucky ones. Unfortunately our Carolina neighbors are not and under heavy flooding. Everyone stay safe,move early out of low lying areas and be prepared. Its always a challenge for people with chronic illnesses to get safely out of danger quickly since we have so much extra to think about when relocating,mobility,meds,equipment,etc so we really need to alway be prepared and have a plan before disaster hits. Sometimes those of us in coastal areas take warnings for granted since we see more false alarms with mother nature. We laugh about hurricanes and plan parties actually and the seaside bars and restaurants even run specials!

Nothing on my agenda this week other than cleaning since we are headed into the holiday season and busiest months for my family with two upcoming parties next week and the big Halloween bash my daughter does every year followed by my daughter and granddaughter visiting from Texas the first two weeks of November. Add in this is a emotionally trying week for me as today is the 22nd year anniversary of my daughter's death and although life carried on the loss of a child remains always in your thoughts.

No appts until next week for me and the pools still too cold from the rain to do much good pain wise so likely hitting the gym for therapy this week.

Hoping everyone has a good week ahead and prayers for those who are struggling.

Good Morning! I have not checked in recently but I'm still lurking and doing well.

Two weeks ago I had appointments with 2 different doctors. My blood pressure was high at both. It was an annual visit with my cardiologist. She said she really did not want to start treating that, it was probably just a nervous reaction, check it at home and let her know how it is. The 2nd doctor was my Endocrinologist. She said we must start treating that now, even after hearing what the other dr said. I refused. I have very little experience telling a doctor NO but I did it. I heard many of your voices in my mind telling me to advocate for myself. Thanks for that! And my b/p is quite normal at home, so no med is needed for that!

We are busy here with a political campaign. My son-in-law is running for County Sheriff. My main contribution is child care. I enjoy that and am so very thankful I'm able to do it!

Colonoscopy Thurs. I need to find out what's making me nauseous and losing weight, but expect it will be stomach.

Sorry everyone's having problems of one sort or another. Abilene why Drs never seem to consider that as CPers at home we have much better control over our pain and being up out and about doing things we can avoid at home like excessive walking,sitting in hard waiting room chairs,opening doors,maybe steps,prolonged car riding,etc will overtax and undercut our pain control. Increase in blood pressure is one of the few detectable signs of pain so why would they not take into account that if your b/p is elevated during a outting such as a office visit thats likely the cause? Back into a environment your in control removes the stressors and your pain returns to your normal range as does your b/p. Drs not seeing the whole picture and sometimes we have to help with ensuring they do.

Cogito now you understand maintaining a blood serum level theory? Too bad many medical professionals and pharmaceutical industry workers don't or waiting days to fill something wouldn't be such a easy situation for them to put us in.

Pitmom please remind us closer to your daughters surgery and we can keep her in the thoughts and prayers list that day.

Char with the drastic temp and humidity drop here in Florida this week from the hurricane everyone is sniffling,wheezing and sneezing,its horrible. When the weather changes it sends people predisposed to asthma and allergies into a tailspin! I don't envy you in the least because to me there's nothing more miserable and treating the symptoms always makes me feel twenty times worse even the newer allergy meds with nondrowsy effects make me feel like my heads in a huge bubble and my chest is in a vise. Hopefully you will find relief soon.

Alcie I don't envy you for sure,hate those kind of tests.

All right....true to my nature, the week's almost done and here I am checking in. Pain issues are probably as good as they're going to get under the circumstances. I don't deal with the traumas that several folks here deal with--LOL. My silly leg/foot hurts. Oh the joy of dealing with pain that is invisible to the rest of the world. The good news is G-d made me a good little actress, so most folks don't realize there's even an issue! (Just don't show up at my house after the sun goes down! LOL)

The PM physician has me on a mix of oral meds, topical ointments and my handy dandy TENS unit--I'm able to get through the work day without having a need to tear my clothing off cuz it's hurting me. LOL. My coworkers are relieved, I'm sure.
I have a follow-up appt next week. My pain level is not at a 4 or 5, but it's not at a constant 8, either. So, progress, I guess. I must admit--I struggle accepting that THIS is "as good as it gets". So I'll keep chasing "better" answers, I'm sure.

I have a life, even if there are limitations. Some...a LOT of people don't get to do what I get to do--so I'll try to stay grateful.

I do have a prayer request--not for me, but for the 4 week old grandson who was born with heart defects that required open heart surgery a week ago. Step one of a three step process correcting the heart's "broken-ness". So...any and all prayers are greatly appreciated.
My owies pale in comparison to what the 4 week old has already experienced in his lifetime.
And I do thank you all in advance.

Oh so sorry for the little guy Mel and will definitely keep him in my thoughts as he recovers.
