Hi all, I am new to this community but I was searching for options for this horrific health condition. Did anyone find any solutions yet? Seems there are many suffering and looking for natural solutions. I'd love to connect with anyone suffering from this. I believe it's called Sholgrans syndrome.

Hello Mothersfriend & welcome to Healing Well. I noticed your heading of Burning Mouth Syndrome & yes in the past we have had many people come through here searching for relief.

We had one person come through here last year that said her dr knew how to treat this & she finally got relief. Since she did not stay active posting here I cannot recall her name. What I suggest is you use our search feature at the top & type in Burning Mouth Syndrome & read through the older posts to find hers. We do ask that you not post on those older threads & most of the time the member is no longer active here & you will get a better response asking question here. This lady is the only person I know of that actually got rid of it.

Is there a current thread on this topic? Everything I find is so old-back to 2012 or 2013.

Yes, you are doing just fine posting. I really don't think it was that far back that the lady posted about the success she had with treatment. In fact she is the only one I am aware of that had any success. I will look & see if I can find the thread. Did you read the old threads? She only posted once or twice.

I found a couple older threads, one was dated back to 2007 & there was a lady that posted 2015 that her dr prescribed oral doxipin that she swished in her mouth. But, I hit pay dirt I had told another new member about the lady having success. This lady was dx'd by a neurologist that said her burning mouth syndrome was a result of clenching her teeth. It is nerve related. The neurologist did Botox injections to get rid of the pain. Botox is often used for many things pain related. Keep in mind when reading the older threads you will often find where someone has posted on a thread several years old. Good luck.

Hi Mothersfriend and Welcome to the Chronic Pain Forum. Have you tried Googling Burning Mouth Syndrome? There are many things that can cause this condition from certain vitamin deficiency, to certain hormonal deficiencies, to mouth infections and a host of other things! I guess the first thing I would recommend is (if you haven't already done this) is see a doctor and see what the doctor would recommend. Of course, the first thing your doctor will probably want to do is run some test to find out the actual cause of your burning mouth so he/she can accurately treat it! Who knows the treatment might be as easy as simply taking a vitamin supplement??? But again it could be a symptom of something more serious? So it would be definitely be best to have it checked out if haven't already!

Alpha Lipoic Acid is a natural supplement which has some scientific research suggesting it can cure burning mouth syndrome. Google the papers on it for info on dose and how long to take etc.

It can cause heartburn in some people, and dont get it directly in your mouth as it can burn, but you can get Na-RALA which is a salt version and doesn't burn if that is an issue.
