Hello, in 1998 I was in an accident and suffered a L2 burst fracture, I have had no spine surgery. I have lived in chronic pain since. I was doing OK dealing with my pain myself.
Once a month or so I started getting a loud pop in my neck when I turned my head. The pop was at the base of my skull. In March my neck popped again but this time pain started and has not let up. I have nerve pain and pressure going from the base of my skull up behind my right ear. Sometimes my neck will crack in the same spot just from yawning and the pain will increase. The pain also radiates down my neck and into my shoulder blades. It's a burning pain. I tried gabapentin and baclofen with not much relief (and didn't like the side effects). I'm presently taking Tylenol/ Robax (2000 mg/day), Celebrex 200mg and Trazodone 50mg to try and get some sleep. I'm scheduled for an MRI in September and hope to get some answers. Heat and ice provide some temporary help, but not much pain relief. I bought a hard neck collar from amazon and wear that when its bad. Also bought an over the door traction device, helps a little for a short period of time. I've trained myself to sleep flat on my back with an ortho pillow and a soft collar. My arms and legs strength seem fine. I do get pins and needles in my hands sometimes, but it doesn't last long, mostly I wake up at night with it and a change in hand position relives it. Very light Physio exercises just make it worse. I'm very frustrated. It seems like I have joint inflammation at the C1-C2 level??
Any advice and knowledge would be appreciated.
Thanks
