Hello everyone

I have chronic pain in my upper back, between my shoulder blades, but it is more on the right side.  This has been going on for over 4 years.  I was going to pain managment and doing PT, but then we moved and I became pregnant so I stopped all the drugs.

Well now my pain in my back has spread to my neck/arms.  The bones in my arm feel cold, it is the only way I can describe it.  Like it feels as if the AC in the car, the vents are pointed right at your arm and it is really cold.  Nothing I do helps, no medicine, vicodine, percoset, flexoral, motrin, IB profin, tylenol.  My finger tips are also tingly.  I had an MRI over 2 years ago, everything was normal.

I am just so frustrated because I can not even hold my 2 month old daughter for very long because of the pain in my back/arm/neck.  It is hard for me to go to PT 3 times a week with 3 kids and no family in the area to help me out. 

I could take the pain, but now with the cold feeling in my arm, like inside the bone, I am going nuts. 

Does anyone know possibly what can be going on?

I don't know what it is but my uncle had the same sympyoms. His har and hand woulg get so cold he would wear a coat and aglove on his right hand even during the summer. I'll ask him about it and let you know if someone doesn't give you an answer first.

Possibly Chiari malformation or Syringomyelia .

hi there i wanted to say i have some of the symptoms you are talking about i have many other problems but i have noticed that for my shoulder neck and back pain my chiro was the one that found out the problems sometimes pt can hurt more than it helps so be careful ok what you need in a chiro is someone who will listen and find the root of your problems that way they might be able to fix it chiros dont always snap u and send u home they tend to do testing to find out what is going on and in my area the chiros have made more accurate diagnosis than alot of medical doctors ok its just a suggestion but i do hope you get relief soon so u can spend time with that sweet baby keep us posted please :-)

Sorry that this is affecting your so badly.  I agree with Gramps, I think you need further medical investigation.  However, have you thought about fibromyalgia?  Have you taken your temperature recently?  I have discovered recently that people with fibromyalgia often have a low body temperature (which I do) and I know exactly what you mean about the cold feeling.  I often feel like I have an invisible block of ice attached to my left hand and foot, no matter what the temperature outside.

I have a regional overuse syndrome and it is often very hard to know the difference between my injury and my fibro as fibro mimics many conditions/symptoms.  I get numbness in both hands when holding anything for a short period of time also.  If you have PT 3 times a week and you're not really improving, I would suggest it's time for a new therapy.

Please see a doc and get a proper analysis of your condition so that you can get treated properly.

My temp is usually 96 to 97, which is low, they always have to take it several times to believe it!

I live under an electric blinket year round and have a heating pad on my neck year round. Sometimes I feel that all my bones are so cold they are frozen and they ache so bad.

Yet , Im hot in the summer like normal on the outside of my body anyway.

Hi I have Rsd which is your sympathethic nervous system goes haywire and your pain could be in one limb or more it could be in your shoulder i have it full body and my temp runs anywhere for 95 degrees to 97 it scares the doctors and nurses and cna's i have poor circulation in my hands and my feet due to this ...this disease occuredwhen i fell down a flight of stairs and sprained both my ankles and had to have surgery because i had severe trama in both my ankles 5 1/2 yrs ago no one can touch me its to painful it feel like knives are going through me when the wind blows its very painful i have to stay covered up. just going in the shower is a chore right know i have a home health aide because i cant do anything for myself..i had a neurostimulator a device that was suppose to help my pain circulation ....it helped my circulation it never helped my pain i have been on every pain pill imagiable ...i cant walk i ....im wheelchair bound ...the bad thing about this ....this disease is curable if caught in time ...unforunately for me that not the case i will never go in remission and i am only 25 yrs old...you also frequently have muscle spasms and i just found out i have another disease that almost 50% of the RSD patients get its called myofascial syndrome so you so like you might only have those symtoms i was just worried about your temp if you want to talk just let me know...shauna
