neurostimulator with dead battery!

After the post-op visit with the medtronics rep he told me not to recharge my battery until my surgery scar is completely healed, at least 4 weeks. My battery was down to 10% before the first week was over. So, here I am two weeks out from surgery with a dead stimulator and back on narcotics again. The reason for not allowing a recharge yet is because the charging process creates heat. As we all know warm moist places are a breeding ground for bacteria. I don't want an infection so I will have to make the best of it. The unit was working quite well though and made holiday travel better but travel home today was hard and painful. My wife does all the driving now so we managed with frequent stops and medication. We had a great Thanksgiving (as I hope you all did) with family so the pain was worth it. I received a packet while gone from the American Chronic Pain Association, is anyone familiar with or a member of that group? The staff at my pain clinic highly recommends them for the information and their support groups. Looks like the closest group to me is almost an hour away. What do you all think, is it worth the drive?

Bless your Heart Shauna, I had no idea about the terms on your post and had to look them up. Did all of those result from the fall? I just said a little prayer for you. My stim implant is to help with low back and leg pain due to a horribly failed back surgery which left me with nerve damage and a sizable blood clot. I passed three clots through my heart and into my lung. By the grace of God I am still a part of this world. I was on a walker for several months progressed to crutches and am now using a quad cane. I've also been fitted with a couple different braces to help me walk without my leg buckling and falling down. My left calf is numb on the outside and hypersensitive on the inside. My big toe and the inside of that foot is also numb. That ankle is purple looking all the time and the tiny veins are visible. Swelling is also a constant battle so I take a high dose of lasix for that. Along with that I am also on a long list of meds similar to yours. My stim unit is still dead but should be allowed to charge it within the week. Mine is the three lead model and one of the leads slipped down during the trial and had to be repositioned. If it happens again I will go to a doc in Omaha, Neb to have a surgical paddle lead installed. To what degree does your unit help with the pain? Gotta go, time for church!
