Chronic pain...what to do next?

Hello this is my first time to post to this forum. I have gone through a 4 year battle with Lyme Disease and trying to get a correct diagnosis and many doctors that just really don't care...I could write a book about it.

I am in constant pain. I have very severe headaches at least 3 times or more a week. I have severe joint pain, pain that throbs up and down my spine and have no idea how to get the doctors to understand or help.

MY PCP jusst keeps throwing loritab and darvocet at me which do absolutely nothing now. I talked to him at one point because I had made a couple of trips to the ER where I was treated like a drug seeker, and discussed the fact that I have never really been on pain medication untill all f this started and that I am NOT an ADDICT or a DRUG SEEKER, he said that he knew that but then still has not been any help.

I am really not sure where to turn next. I am in the process of searching for a new PCP just to see if I can get someone to understand the pain that I live with daily. I have thought about asking to see a Pain Management Specialist but am not sure if that is my answer or not.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

And welcome to the CP forum. Glad to have you here. A pain clinic may give you some good help. If you do opt to change PCP's then make your first visit an interview...YOU interview THEM. You are hiring this person to take care of you so get the best you can find. Ask how they treat chronic pain patients before you get undressed...so to speak..lol. Be up front and honest and you should do fine.
