went to my rheumy appointment yesterday and got a good examination went for x-ray and going for blood work today to check to see if i have ankylosing spondylitis. Or he said something else but cannot remember what. Anyway he gave me a new anti-inflammatory to try and boy it knocked me out i sleep through the hole night without waking once and that hasn;t happened in a very long time, yeah morning stiffness decreased a bit but will probably take a bit to know if this med is going to work. Head a bit foggy but ok. Also as well he recommends that i start a routine exercise even if it;s just walking around the block or swim, gentle but not to over do it. Anyway will keep updating on progress take care Twiggy2.

Im glad you had a good dr's appointment. I hope the antimflammatories help your pain. Have a LPD.

Good for you Twiggy2 I'm really happy for you. Another step forward. I have a dr. appt. tomorrow with my Primary Care dr. Stomach problems getting out of hand. So I hope I get some good news as well. Yesterday I saw my CP dr. and I can't honestly say I feel very good about it physicaly or emotionally. There is always tomorrow. So good for you may your good luck continue. I'm out.

Hey, I'm so happy to hear some good news. Hopefully the anti-inflamatory med will be a big help. It also will be helpful to get a proper diagnisis and go from there. What kind of anti-inflamatory is it (name)? Maybe I could suggest it to my pc dr.

Hi Twiggy!

Sounds like you have a good rheumy. That's not always easy to come by these days. I sure hope the new meds keep working and you start to feel better and better!

Update, not going so well with new med, cannot handle the side effects. Indomethacin 50mgs is the name of the med. I only took it for two days maybe not long enough but i don't think it;s good for me, maybe for others. So now back to drawing board middle of the night awake and sore. Still recovering from a major headache partly due to the meds and to be blunt PMS, my head was pounding badly. Well i just was venting a bit will have to call on Mon and see what;s what and maybe there is something else i can try. Take care and thanks for listening. Twiggy2 Just a question what does LPD mean i sure it;s good but would like to know the meaning so i can use back, thanks

Twiggy you really have had a rough go of things, I sure hope another med can be given, I am sure there are so many out there. Perhaps they can give you a lower dose of the medication too. My rheumy was not so good. His eyes nearly crossed when I handed him the list of my medication. Many of these are on a PRN basis only, such as my muscle relaxer, pain pill for BT pain, and such. I list these meds because I do take them from time to time. But I have pulmonary problems and take numerous meds for it, on oxygen now 24/7, crohns disease meds, UC medication, high BP, pain pump implant. I really became offended when he said you already take a ton of medication and I sure don't want to add to the mix. I looked him right in the eye and said, I am not here for medication, my dr sent me here because she thinks I have now developed Lupus and she needs for you to either confirm the dx or not. Well, he did give me the dx for it. When I need to see a rheumy again it will be with a new rheumy. My dr felt really bad because he said that to me. Keep us posted. Susie

Thanks. I still have to go for a HLA?B27 blood test to see if have a high level then i can be dianosed more properly, my rhumey doesn;t know yet that i have stopped taking the med, i think it would be ok too take at night as it does help me sleep but that i will have to ask him me personally don't like the side effects just taking it at night either. Anyway i have been overdoing things a bit that last cpuple of days having a hard time sleeping. Today is going to be R&R day unless something comes up. I will keep you posted as to how things are going. Twiggy2

Twiggy2: Don't be sorry - I was lost with all the abbreviations when I first started coming here too! I'm just not caught up to the computer jargon. :-)

I think LPD means "Low Pain Day."



Chutz (or any of the moderators who see this...): I wonder if it might be helpful to have a "key" somewhere in the sight where newbies like us could see a list of common abbreviations and their meaning? Just a thought...

Thanks that would be a good idea. Well had my blood test done have too wait 2-3 days for results. They say it has to be sent to Toronto to get tested so it must be a complicated test and we don;t have the technology here in my town to do it anway thanks again will keep you posted and LPD to all the people, Twiggy2.

Thanks, been up and down with pain, been really giving a go cleaning the house and has been not been good for me at all. I talked to my pharmasist about the anti-inflammatory and he says that the side effects should go away in a week or so but everyone is different so i may start taking them again. Been having severe muscle spasms and feels like someone has a knife stuck in my back some trouble with taking a deep breath, some leg pain and i think i may have a trace of blood in my urine, sorry for being graphic. I have an appointment with family doc on the 28th i think it is time to get another MRI done to see whats going on. Take care gentle hugs and will keep you posted.

Twiggy, Indocin has been in use for many yrs, I didn't even know that it was still around. It's known to cause stomach upset and GI probs. If u do con't to take it , make sure it's with food. Sounds like this one may not be the best one for you. Good luck on the 28th.

Thanks, well had my follow up with family doc, we reviewed that test result from the Rhuemy, from what i understood is that the SI joints are fine, no blood work results at his office to have call rhumeys office to find those out and there was some other thing mentioned about further testing, i requested a copy of the result so i can read them. The rhumey ordered the test under the assumption that they would be negative but could still have athritis confused i asked my doc then if it is negative how is it determined if i have athritis or not he said that it was up to the rhumey do make the decision. Still confused, so still not sure what is causing my pain for now i will not assume that it is anything until i have a confirmed diagnosis, Sorry one more guick note i have to call rhuemy and tell them that i could not take the indomethacin see if there is an alternative.
