Dear what-to-do,
I didn't see your initial, unedited post but from what I'm reading you very likely do have a problem with addiction - definitely if you obtained initial script
s illegally. If you had legit pain why not just go to your doctor first, and follow his/her direction about
treating the pain? Also, most people who want to discontinue their pain meds don't go searching for information that leads them to methadone, which would only be a different pain medicaiton for people with chronic pain, and still an addictive one.
At any rate, I'm not here to chide you but to say you need to contact a local addiction treatment center. They can help assess your withdraw (you may need detox help) without necessarily getting onto methadone. That needs to be decided by addictions professionals, not by you, and is generally only for people who are addicted to heroine or comparable optiates (maybe you are, I don't know). Also, a doctor who specializes in addiction - an addictionologist - can help manage your pain in other ways. But I'm concerned about
you trying to detox on your own - it could be dangerous. Get to a addictions treatment facility! You also sound young, and you definitely want to get a handle on an addiction before it ruins the rest of your life - or ends it.
