Scared, glad to know the mylo is finally scheduled. I understand being excited as well as scared. We are all pulling here for a painfree as possible mylo for ya. PA is right lay flat, don't be raising that head up or putting it on a pillow and drink as much fluids as you possibly can. Baby yourself.
I am with you on changing drs. A year ago I had to change PCP's. I got really sick and went to him, its a group, and he had his PA look at me which is very unusual. She looked every bit of 17 and was quite frankly scared of me because I could not get my breath. She went right to him & told him what was going on, so he said tell her to go to ER, we can call an ambulance. I looked at her and said no ambulance I can get there & left. He did not have a hospitalists group to look after his patients when in need of being hospitalized. At one point, I know they did. My precious GI dr got me admitted and got the proper drs in to take care of me. I learned a very valuable lesson. Even tho my PCP had taken care of me for over 10yrs, it was time to find one that at least used a hospitalists group. Oh, how I hated changing drs. In that clinic there was probably 6 drs and they had all turned into what I call cold, cough & flu man. Such a shame and a walkin clinic.
I switched to my daughters PCP and let me tell you, she does not mess around. She is sure not afraid to refer you out either. Even my daughter says she is a little overboard on things, but one thing about her, she does not mess with her patients and try to treat something that is beyond her. We are still in the getting to know each other stage, lol. She has had me admitted twice now to the hospital in a little over a year and I like her drs that she uses for that, very thorough. I have alot of health problems at least she is not afraid of me.
Now, may be a good time for you to try to get pertinent medical records from yours drs, tests, surgery records, copies of xray medical reports and copies of any CT, MRI films and of course your mylo for your new specialist in Kansas to see. By having the important stuff when you see your new specialist for the 1st time it will give him/her a clear picture of whats been done and what needs to be done to get you some better quality life. I would get online also and start checking out orthopods & neurosurgeons, pain mgt drs as well. Do this before the move so you are not scrambling in a new town trying to come up with a dr. I would also check on some PCP's in the event your dr cannot help you there. Most big hospitals have a referral line for drs of all kinds. I would want to talk to a real person so you can tell them a brief run down of your medical history. That way they can narrow the field down on who would see you and who is taking new patients. You can go online and find any hospital in a city. OOps forgot, where in Kansas are you headed?
Try to remain calm the next few days, we are all pulling for ya. Ya lucky rat, eating funnel cake, huh. I am envious, I love that stuff, lol. Hugs Susie
