Chronic Pain & Meal Times

Oh Pam I am so sorry to hear about your hubby. My best wishes for a speedy recovery. Ok here is what I do for quick meals.

1.) Keep minute rice in the cupboard for those easy meals involving rice. (also instant Mashed Potatoes as I am a huge fan of Potatoes)

2.) There is an easy meals by Betty Crocker and Kraft makes pasta salads that you can easily make. Too you can throw some of these in the crock pot and let them simmer for hours before supper.

3.) I always keep handy things like lunch meat, cheese and other things for a quick sandwich for lunches.

Pam - There are quite a few meals that are pretty easy to cook.

Roast - if you like roast beef they are really easy to cook. You can buy bags in the seasoning area that have the spices, and you put the roast in with any vegetables you want and cook. I normally have hubby take it out.

Stew, soup, stuff like that in a crock pot are really easy. They also have quick frozen meals that you just pop into the crock pot to cook. They even make liners (you'll find them with the plastic baggies, and ziplock steamer bags) that line the crock pot so it doesn't get dirty.

Also - dont forget there is a whole world of premade frozen food meals. Most of them are pretty good.

You can buy the bags of salad that come with everything except meat, and buy the precooked salad meat, or just buy the bowls that come with everything. Also most grocery stores and even walmart have deli's that have fried chicken, sandwiches and such.

Remember that you've got pizza, stuff like that too. :)

Not sure what you can do - but for me I can toss a steak on the grill, with some corn. Hot dogs, as mentioned above.

Also to help with clean up get you a bunch of paper plates, cups, and silverware. They also sell disposable cake pans, liners, and such. Whenever I'm using the oven I line whatever I'm using with tinfoil to make clean up quick and easy too.

For meals that take a bit more to do I have it sort of worked out to do a bit here, a bit there, all day to get it done. For example yesterday we had a oven roasted chicken. I washed the chicken first thing in the morning, then put it in the fridge, then put the seasoning on it, back in the fridge, then put it in the oven when I needed it. Today I'm turning the same chicken into soup. I already took the meat dropped it in water to boil, cut the veggies later, added them in as I could, so now all that's left is this evening I cook some noodles.

I start meals in the morning getting the prep work done, so that evening all that's left is cooking it.
