Hello Everyone

I have just read a page about anti abuse technology being applied to perscription pain medication s this is the first I have herd of this but other s might already know about

It is in respect to contineous release pain med s like MS contin and Oxycontin and alike

I have become very upset at the growing reports of the insane abuse of Oxycontin which is a med I have taken since 1997 and can say it has saved my life honestly

The just of the artical is the coating has on some med s already and will probably applied to Oxycontin

if the tablet s coating is broken any moisture at all example from water or from the nose the content s will instantly turn into a thick gel making it impossible to add water and inject or be sniffed in the nose  or chewed it will just stay in a gel state and I am not positive but I think for those who chew it this gel will NOT breakdown no matter how much it s chewed and will stay in a time released state in this gel when swallowed also this gel will stick badly to the teeth or stay in clumps in the nose possibly notifying a Dr that the table has been abused

Myself I was very pleased to hear this being done to stop the abuse of these med s and the bad rap these drugs are getting

also possible Dr s might be willing to perscribe these drugs more frequently if they know they can only be taken as intended

This might be old new s I am not certain but good new s for us non the less

That new med your talking about is called Remoxy. Theirs also new meds coming out like oxytrex and one with morphine where it's mixed with a very low dose naltrexone to prevent people from getting too high of a tolerence on it and also to prevent abuse. Which I think is great, because I think nothing works better for severe pain then naroctics but after a while the doctor's get annoyed when we have to beg for a increase casue of tolerence. So these new pills are suppose to prevent that period, so we dont have to worry anymore about when our pain meds stop working. And that new med your talking about has been in trials for so many years, they had a news special on it like 2-3 years ago, I remember they had a guy that was abusing oxycontin and they had him try out the new one your talking about, Remoxy, and he said it was working great and that it stopped him from abusing it. Someday it's suppose to take over all Oxycontin prescriptions, but I have a feeling hte makers of oxy wont have that. Too bad, it would make the world alot more easier for us with chronic pain.

Hi bruce!

And thanks for posting about this topic. It's one that is of concern to anyone who lives with chronic pain. I live out in a very rural area and use a local pharmacy. They do a lot of business mostly because the owner, who is also a pharmacist, keeps prices low. It's a peaceful community without much crime.

Last week when one of my daughters was waiting for her prescription a young guy in a hoody on and scarf around his face walked up to the pharmacy and shoved a note across the counter. He claimed to have a gun and wanted cash and the oxycontin. All the owner cared about was giving the guy what he wanted and to make sure no one was hurt. But this idiot is why the rest of us have problems with Oxycontin! I do hope this gets on the market and soon!
