I decided it may be best to start a new thread so you would see this. You asked about Pumpsters its a Yahoo group. I am thinking they are having alot of problems with their web site from what I read recently.

 

Why are you so interested in Pumpsters may I ask? Its website devoted totally to people with pumps and people getting ready for their surgery to have a pump put in. If I remember correctly your pain dr talked about pumps to you and you said you would never consider having one and was pretty negative towards them.

 

Its a very different type of forum from HW and I don't get over there much, I would rather spend my time right here where I am at. I will just say I am very comfortable at HW and always have been right from the very start. When I first joined HW it was the crohns forum I joined first. I had just had surgery and my head was spinning off of my shoulders trying to learn about this awful disease. Shoot, those peeps taught me more than anyone could have, in fact my dr suggested getting online and joining a group,he, he.

 

Anyway, if you have problems over there its because Pumpsters website is experiencing problems.

Ugh oh, have you maxed out the Methadone doseage? Lets hope it will keep your pain down enough to allow you stay on it for a long time. I know thats reaching way out there, but its always good to hope. I wish we could come up with a good plan for anyone interested in pumps in being able to locate a top notch dr in their area. I know Medtronic has a list but from what I hear its so old & outdated that its worthless. Only thing I can tell you is this, ask your dr how long he has been practicing pain mgt, how long he has been taking care of pump patients, how many pump patients does he currently have, does he mix his own medications for pumps or are they pre-packaged from a pharmacy, does he have a back-up dr in line if he were to become ill or whatever that could handle your pump in his absence,what kind of dr does he ref to for the inplant of the pump, these are all good legit questions to ask a dr and if one were to get offended for being asked, I would high tail it right out there to never return.......Susie
