Andrea,

Where are you? I miss your compassionet posts to all of us here. I hope you are OK? How are your beutiful dogs holding up in the cold> How are you holding up? Please come back, you are one of my favorite CP'ers and I truly respect your opinions on our problems but I haven't seen any posts in a while. I sure could use your opinion of my recent breakdown and my plan to leave work and go for SS Disabillity>?? Please come back!!!

My Dear Andrea,
I found and looked at your last post, the last one I could find and it was on my smaqll surgery post. You posted at 8:41 on 2/3 telling me to behave myself w/ the nurses. I posted right after you at 8:47 and did NOT acknowlage your kind words. I was typing very slowly w/ two fingers like I always do! I was typing my post the same time you were so it wasn't there when I started writing as I probably started before or while you were writing!!! I surely would have come back w/ a silly comment on your statement had I seen it. After posting, I was off the computor and not posting or thinking. I had a meltdown, a real wham-bammer! I hope you are not mad at me. I was out of it for a couple days! They used to call it a nervous breakdown, well thats kind of what happened to me. A real cryfest! Please come back!

I have been in a funk. I am not sad, happy, angry or anything.....I just feel quiet "inside".....like I am mentally shut down.

Read your posts......since you asked......figure out how you can make it not working....talk to your doctor and ask him to write a letter in your behalf stating you are no longer able to work. File for SS. Turn off the utilities for your house and go back to your wife. (file SS from that address). Life is too short to keep going the way you have been.

Andrea, I went back and looked again. Yes I did post again after you did but I honastly missed yours! I always try to acknowlage everyone who takes the time to write to me personally. I did to everyone else in that post! I am such a POPOHEAD!!! I don't know how I missed it but somehow I did. You must know I couldn't have snubbed you intentionally! I don't have a mean bone in my body, lots of broken ones but none are mean. I am so sensitive that I would have been upset if it had happened to me. I've already been upset and acted like a baby when I first started posting. Some here probably remember that incident! My boss always tells me I'm too sensitive when I jump all over him for coments I think are directed to me. He says I'm just like a chick! Well maybe I am, maybe it was all those years with castration levels of testosterone! Who knows?? But I certanly wouldn't have ignored my favorite friend on this forum! I knew we had lots in common as soon as you started posting here and you helped my with my problems with such kindness and understanding. I am so mad at myself if I'm the reason you stopped posting! Please accept my appology and know it was my dislexic brain at work. I was extreamly dislexic when I was a kid back when they just thopugh you were stupid if you couldn't read. Hell, I still have to use my finger on the page to read a paragraph or I'll keep reading the same line over and over. It's worse on a computor. I miss things because of it! Bact to what happened after my bumble with your post.
I started having problems emotionally long before last Friday when I had a meltdown at work and I haven't been right since. My mind is racing like clouds in a huricane! So many ideas are flying in and out of my slowpoke brain. I could use some help from a logical intelligent friend to help me sort it all out. I have no one to talk to about everything thats happening to me except everyone here and my wife and although I love her dearly, her mind isn't open to certain things. She has already made up her mind on some things I'm not so sure about in our future! Anyway, I'm dead tired, haven't been sleeping worth a pile of horse poop! 4:00am comes early and I havent been to sleep before midnight all week! I promissed myself tonight would be different. SO I'll say good night to anyone reading this pittyful post. I just pray the right person is reading it!

Ok, So I really acted like an idiot last night on this post! But to save a friendship I'd write it all over again! I may have sounded desperate but to not acknowlage a friend who was trying to help me is just not my style. I felt so bad about it I kind of got verbal diarea appologizing! Anyway, I hope Andrea comes back, she's such a sweet caring girl.
Andrea, I hope you feel better soon and get back in action! Is there anything I can do or say to cheer you up? I'm a silly man if you haven't noticed.

Dear silly Pete.....how funny is it that twice we were typing to each other at the same time.......you crack me up.

I will come out of my funk sooner or later. I usually go in a corner and hide sometimes.......think it is just winter and I am alone so much....my nursing friends have moved on with life....moved etc. Life changes.

I just recently made arrangements to go to a volunteer orientation at a local hospital. I think I finally found a position that won't wreck my neck. (no no I refused to carry heavy meal trays to patients] It is in the ICU Family Lounge....just be available for questions, offer coffee etc. Will be a couple weeks til I know.

You take care of yourself now and follow through with your plans and let us know........Andrea

Oh andrea I know how you are feeling really I do. I was a CNA for 3 years before I hurt my back and my last job I dearly loved. I so miss my friends and the residents that touched my heart and my life in the little time that I was there. Most have moved on to bigger and better things and most of the residents have passed on but their memories still live on in my heart. I miss the camaraderie that we had together each day and the laughter that we shared. I miss the long talks with the residents...they always had such interesting stories. I took care of this one lady in the first nursing home that I worked in after I got my license and she was such a delight! She was 104 years old when I met her and a little gone in the head as far as remembering current events but I tell you that sweet woman could regal you with tales of her life that would make you beg for more.

I can't remember her name now but she used to tell me stories of when she was younger, her mother and father would take her and her siblings out every sunday to Buffalo Bill Cody's home in Cody Wyoming for Sunday dinners. Ar first I thought she was just fibbing to me but she showed me pictures and had pictures on her wall of him!!! He was standing with her family and he was exactly as I would have imagined him to be like. Now everyone that I know of recalls the tales of Buffalo Bill. Well this woman actually met him and knew him. Had meals with the man and shared conversations with a legend! I was astounded that she was telling the truth and begged her to tell me more of Bill. So we spent day after day while I was on her unit deep in conversation her telling me all about Buffalo Bill. Every day it was "He was a Handsome Man!" I got the feeling she had a little crush on him. Of course she was in her late teens. Anyway she lived to be 110 and I would visit a lot until one day she just forgot. Sad really.....all those memories gone.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that.

I also want to remind you that there are others here (myself included) who are single, and live alone, miss our work, etc., and understand the funk all too well. So feel free to write us even when you're in a funk. Pity parties are allowed!

Yes! Dam it! I have big shoulders, please Andrea, if you get into a funk get online w/ the funky CP croud, we'll get you hoppin again! Oh what a day I had! I think I'll start a new thread about it though so I can have a big fat pity party for Pete! I already started this am after the Famous Abe Lincoln log tooth icident. So look for my party cause thats about all the two fingering I have left tonight!

Thanks....I miss my patients and their families so much. I worked in mostly ICU's but part time to help in a local nursing home which was my love. All these years and I still want to work as a nurse. It breaks my heart. I did not just work as a nurse...I was a nurse first last and always.

I appologize for the gutter humor, it was uncalled for and rude. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I wasn't thinking about where I was and who I was talking to. I work way too many hours w/ construction people and their constant foul humor but that is absolutely no excuse! I will try very hard not to write anything like that again. Geeze am I stupid sometimes!

Scarred....thank you so much for the Buffalo Bill story. My memories of so many patients are just like yesterday. What a gift they were to us.

I too cared for a 104 year old lady once. She was a hoot!!! Smart as a whip and the doctors danced to HER tune...lol Andrea

Andrea I sure hope your funk is short lived. We do grieve for our old lives terribly. I did not understand this when I first got sick six years ago. I went to a psychologist and she explained to me how we grieve for what we have lost, careers, health, our lives get totally turned upside down. If the sun is shinging in your neck of the woods and its not bitter cold, go out and get in the warm sun and see if that will pick up your spirits some.Hugs....Susie
