Silly Pete,
Of course you belong here with us.
You don't need a whole page of diagnoses to join our group, though if that was a requirement you would certainly fit the bill.
Heck, I don't even try to keep track of what all I have anymore, but if it makes you feel better I'll list what I remember:
C1 -- laminectomy
entrapped nerve at C1/C2 -- spinal cord stimulator leads implanted at C2 - 8 leads
narrowing at C2-C6 (I think that's called spinal stenosis, but I'm not sure)
C6/C7 -- dessication (dehydration) of disc, something with the vertebrae not sure what, but it doesn't connect to C6
T5 -- herniated disc
L4/L5 -- bulging disc
L5/S1 - herniated disc & annular tear, facet hypertrophy at each of L5 and S1 (I was told there were tiny little fractures & bone chips at L5 -- I don't know what that was called on the MRI)
mild scoliosis
I'm not really sure why that would make anyone feel better, but if it helps I'm glad for that. :)
Take care, my friend. Like PA says, you need to do enough research to be your own advocate, but try not to let it take over your life. Before my crainiotomy/C1 laminectomy I was almost compulsive about
looking up as much information as I could find. It made me feel like I was defined by my condition. I'm sure you're not crazy enough to do that, but I just want to encourage you that you do have value. You do matter. You do have a lot to offer this world. You are not defined by your pain, your experience with cancer or any other problem in your life. Those experiences only shape us as much as we let them. We can use them to grow stronger, happier & healthier or we can steer our lives in a direction that will lead to us feeling weak, depressed & miserable. It is certainly more difficult to follow a positive, life-affirming path in the face of illness or pain, but the choice is still ours to make. I know I am working on choosing that path myself, so you are welcome to join me on the journey.
night, night,
frances
