Surgery went OK but!

Hi all,

Well I'm at home today after having my ambiblical hernia fixed yesterday. It wasn't to big a deal but hurts today. I wanted to go back to work but my boss said, "NO stay home!" I asked him if I could work from home and he said that they could get by w/o me today. Oh really? Then how come I've had 16 calls already and thre were from him asking me questions that no one else could answer? Screw him!

Anyway, since I last posted, I had been away from home watching a horse show my two neices were in, they did great even though it was rainy and cold. My biggest problem was my neck which was destroyed from the situp MRI I had last week. I haven't taken my tens unit off since. I'm in agony which makes the 4" incission in my gut where they shoved a mesh under feel pretty insignifigant. It feels like someone punched me in the gut but my neck pain radiates down my shoulders, armd and chest. It's a doosey! All for now, I'll try to post later. I hope everyone is doing well or at least better than me!

Pete,
Glad to hear your surgery went okay. If your boss told you to stay home, I say forget about work altogether. You can always claim you were exhausted or the pain killers knocked you out. Take time to heal. You know they won't be the least bit sympathetic once you're back at your desk. May as well make the most of your days off, esp. if they aren't paying you.

Awe Pete, so sorry you needed surgery, glad it went well though..
Take the time off that your boss said and don't answer his calls, you need rest for now
and lots of it, have you tried a heating pad for your back and shoulder? might help..
Hope your feeling better soon..

Thanks for replying so quickly! Yesterday I was pretty much a fog w/ anestisia & pain meds, today is just boring! My wife came down Sunday night not long after I got home to take me in and take care of me yesterday. So I have the birds and Rose the wonderhound here w/ me keeping me company today. My wife Lisa went in to her home office to check in there while she's in town. I'm not sure when she is leaving yet. I want to get back to work so I can get all caught up and everyone in the feild ready before next weekend as I'm taking off Friday & Monday for my big trip to N. Carolina for a long weekend I've been planning long before this silly surgery! I'm afraid I'll catch some heat if I don't have everything tucked in like babies before I leave, otherwise I'd just say screw it and stay home a couple days! I've been planning this trip for too long to let anything mess it up now! I've mentioned it here before, the Rodbuilders Exposition (fishing rods) which is my hobby and hopefully a source of income if I ever get disability or retire. So it's kind of like going to school with the very best craftsmen in the world and all the best vendors too. I missed it the last two years but nothing is stopping me this year!
Frances, your right, no one gives a dam at work, they just want everything done and done right. I'm sure just missing two days there will be plentty of mistakes to fix, there always is. Chart, yes, I've been using my heating pad while I'm lying down napping ot just taking the weight off my shoulders. It dose help, thanks! Hot showers also help and since the doc glued me up and put stitches below the skin which desolve, he said I could shower today. It looks crazy and kind of crooked being glued, but who cares as long as it stays glued! The Doc gave me the OK to travel this weekend as long as I don't carry anything heavy. It's only a couple days, I'll travel light! Thanks again, I can't sit here very long w/ this neck pain so I'll be back later!

Dear Pete,

I am so glad your surgery went well,now if I could only find a way for my hubby to get his hernia fixed but no ins. I have been lurking around just not posting. So undermedicaited and trying to deal with that and I have to go monday for 5 days to help my daughter and 4 grandkids as my daughter is having surgery and I am terrified I wont be able to keep up. Anyways back to you my friend. Please follow the doc's orders specially the no heavy lifting!! I have already had 2 hernia surgeries and lifting is a huge no no. Things are better here between Jayson and I. Still havent figured out the lovin thang but he is helping more and I think he finally is getting my fibromyalgia. That is one thing that is causing lots of pain and I was dx'd with arthritis yeah!!! lol have a wonderful trip and I am some glad the wife is there to help you and for so company and your right,screw you job....bunch of users grrrrrrrrrrrrr. I can mess em up for ya I am only 5'1" but I can kick ankles lol.........take care.

Pete,

I'm so glad to hear that your surgery went well & you aren't in too much pain from it! I was thinking of you yesterday! I am sorry to hear about your increased neck pain, though. It's just what you need on top of the surgery, right? Hopefully it will let up a little since you are laying low for a day or two. Try to take it easy while you can! Here's to a speedy recovery (from both your surgery & your neck aggravation)!

Tossing in my well wishes with everyone else's. Use the answering machine and caller ID and get the rest you need and deserve! You need to think of your future, and rest up for your trip.

So take good care of yourself!

Thanks > Karen, I hope your Daughter does well w/ her surgery and you have an easy time w/ the kids! I don't know what to say about your Hunnie's henias, I hope he can somehow get help soon, no insurance suck! Maybe the new Pres will keep his promiss and everyone will have it, but it looks like no $$$ will be left for that>who knows? Thanks for the kind word Skeye, PA & Mom, back at you as ussual! I am glad your surgery went well and I am especially glad to hear that your mesh pain isn't so bad. Did they take away your belly button?

Have fun fishing and take it easy, you'll still be healing. North Carolina is beautiful, I have family there but I haven't been able to visit them there in about 10 years.

My hernia repair surgery was the absolute most awful experience ever and redefined what I thought of as a level 10 pain.

Oh Pete, i wish i had seen this the day of surgery! I have not checked in for a few days...

I hope your healing well...don't over do it. Im so sorry taht your neck is hurting so bad on top of it all. Hang in there!
