Good results with Cymbalta

My PM doc recently started me on Cymbalta. I took 30mg a day for two weeks and then 60mg a day. It took a couple of weeks for the medicine to kick in. It has really helped with the pain in an odd way - it didn't get rid of the pain, but it made it more "dull". It used to be a very sharp pain that was impossible to ignore or tolerate. Now it is more of an "ache", albeit a pretty strong one that never quite goes away. Has anyone else had an experience like that?

I am also on Cymbalta and I had a noticeable reduction in may pain when I was titrated up to 60 mg per day. Even though Cymbalta is considered an antidepressant, it definitely is a keeper for me when it comes to non-opioid choices for pain relief. I am glad to hear that it worked well for you too.

I take 120mg Cymbalta, 60mg x 2, but it only works for me when in combination with Lyrica.

Stella, Tony, thanks for the replys. Did either of you experience what I did where the nature of the sensation changed more than the intensity of it? For me changing from a sharp pain to a dull ache sensation makes it a lot more tolerable, even if the sensation is still pretty strong. I haven't had a medicine do that before - usually the nature of the sensation stays the same while the intensity decreases - that is to say a hot, sharp pain stays a hot , sharp pain, it is just less intense. The Cymbalta actually changed the way I perceive the pain - hot, sharp to achy pressure.
