I saw a post somewhere you still have not heard anything about the pump!! Have you done your trial yet? I am sorry, I cannot remember if you have or not. Have you called & spoken with the person at your drs office that does the ins contacting for authorization? I would put in a call to that person and very politely ask if there is a problem getting this approved. Ask f there is anything you need to do by way of contacting your insurance. Make it sound like you are willing to help her in any way possible. Alot of times when we call and act like we are wanting to help them out they will actually get on the ball. I don't know why, but alot of times that goes a long ways with that person.

 

My situation was different than yours. My ins was going to change in July of that year to a rotten company that really didn't like paying for pumps. My doc himself contacted my ins for approval to inplant the pump. My pump got inplanted on June 25 and I had new coverage effective 7-1, so we were in a race against the clock,lol. But, due to the time restraints he made the call personally and got me approved with no problems. 

 

I don't know when you see your doc next but if you haven't been approved, then I would make it a point of reminding him its been x amount of weeks and you have heard nothing and say do I need to do something on my part or what. Remind him nothing has happened. My trial & implant was done in less than 5 days. Hugs...Susie

hi susie, i actually saw my dr on monday. and i reminded him that i was still waiting on approval. he told me to call the authorizations dept in their office and see whats going on. though i had bugged her once before, she had said my insurance was difficult to get approvals. he said that he does not do the implants himself but another dr in the office does them and to make an appt with him next time and ask him to get things moving a little faster. i had really expected this to be done by feb not into march, thats so crazy. i just wish i could get this over with. thank you for asking!

Wow, I am rather surprised at your dr for telling you to make an appt with the doc that does the implants. I am afraid since this much time has gone by that would have ticked me off. Why didn't he tell you before. I can tell you this, I don't know what kind of ins you have, but I have called my ins before to see if there was a problem getting something approved only to find out they had not been contacted by the drs office. I caught that drs office person in a lie.

At this point it sounds like you may need to get in the middle of this and start being a tad agressive with that office. I am so sorry to hear this. Susie

i called the authorizations dept and the lady was very apologetic. she says there are 2 other people waiting like me. but apparently, the dr who does the psyche eval did not post it into my file yet (this was in jan) she said she has requested them a few times with no response. she works in a different office than the drs, but is going over his head to the office mgr to see what she can do about his procrastination. i think what my dr meant by making my next visit with the dr who does the implants, he said maybe he can make things go faster. maybe he is a sr dr or something. i don't know. but i agree i am ready to get this thing going.
