Hi Michaela,
I'm so sorry to hear about all your problems! Not sleeping is tough! Like fatherjohn said, many of us CPer's, me included, hardly sleep. I am so chronically sleep deprived that I constantly feel like a walking zombie. I'm lucky if I get 3 hrs of sleep a night. I never get more than 5 hrs. It's awful. If you do a search through HW, you should be able to find a lot of older threads on sleeping difficulties. People have posted a lot of "home sleep remedies" on them - everything from Morgoth's quiet resting, to undone's chamomile tea & more. I like lavender. I find that while it doesn't necessarily help me to sleep, it helps me to relax. I burn lavender essential oil in my aromatherapy lamp & also have a "soul support" lavender bed spray. I have tried many different prescription & herbal medications without much luck, but some of the natural alternatives, like melatonin & valerian root, might be worth trying (although I know that you mentioned that you have to be off all meds for your new program). Another possibility is alternative medicine, such as acupuncture or homeopathy. These modalities can be used to help with both your pain & your sleep. While they don't help everyone, if you can afford it, and are willing to try it, it's definitely worthwhile - certainly can't hurt! I've personally found acupuncture to be somewhat helpful for both my sleep & my pain, although the effects are very short lived for me. Good luck! I hope you can find some way to get a good night's sleep!
