Hey Scarred,
I have a good story for you that will make you laugh. Its was the thingder & lighting that brought back memories lol.
We were in for bad weather (this was back when I was working) so we decided since we were expecting ice best to shut down and head out. OMG, I got out in my card, total gridlock. Everybody in downtown Ft Worth shut down at the same time, it was awful. I finally manage to slide up on the freeway, it was sleeting and snowing very heavy. The sleet stuff was wet so it stuck and it was bitter cold. So, I get this brilliant idea I will stock at 7-11 and pick up some firewood, nothing like a fire on a day like this. I jump out of my car and decide to leave it running since I was going right in. I come back out to my car, can't find my keys, locked them in the ignition with the motor running. Oh, I was livid. I went in 7-11 used their phone to call hubby, well I forget he is 60 miles away and it took me a long time to go 11 miles so I may see my 10 that night, maybe. So, I tell them at 7-11 I am leaving my car till the big thaw. Thank goodness not much gass on the car, it eventually ran out. Picture this, I am walking along, I have on this long London Fog dress coat with a hood, thank goodness, oh the sleet and snow is awful. I am walking along just cursing up a storm to myself. I live maybe 2 miles from the store. A car pulls up rather slow but keeps going slowly, I am thinking oh great, some pervert. I keep walking and I am really cursing. about this time all of a sudden there is this huge clap of thunder and lightning. I am like oh hell, this is great, I will get struck by lighting in this storm. I had never seen thunder & lightning in a storm like that either. Then out of the blue here comes this car again, this time it nearly rolls to a stop, the window comes down, at this point I am really thinking of tearing someone's head off, it was a lady and she offered me a ride lol.!!
So, she looked ok, she has taken two passes at me and decided I was ok so she stopped. Well, I am telling her my story and we are laughing. We get to my house, it hits me, no keys, I cannot get in the house. My son went to a friends after school to spend the night. I am like oh no, this can't really be happening to me. So, I tell the lady, hey if nothing else, I can break a window, get to the door and decide to try it, my son left it unlocked when he left for school that morning!!! That is my thunder & lightining story.
Well, around one this afternoon I went over and sat with my grandson. Everyone had to work today. You know I dreaded walking out front. Well nothing got bit by the cold temps. My little peony bush was standing straight up in the sun. Everything else looked fine. I am thinking with the ground being so warm it helped. But, its dropping a little more tonite so I went out and put a tall bucket over the peony and put a small brick on top in case the wind kicks up bad again. It is suppose to be 75 here tomorrow. We have the heat on in the house cause it feels like a barn. When we lived in Kansas one snowy winter day my mom & I ventured out to the store. We were in hubbys pickup, driving along all of a sudden the truck went into a complete spin and we ended up in the ditch facing a fence with a big ole cow just looking at us like "what in the hell just happened here" lol. A guy in water truck came along and pulled us out of the ditch, lol. Oh, there is nothing as cold as I can remember as a Kansas winter, well I wa in N. Dakota one Dece and it wa awful there. lol.
You need a snow blower gal. Stay in where its warm. Don't you be out there shoveling any snow, all you need is to take a fall and that would be the end of it. Hugs, Susie
